Dee's Place — Restaurant in Northfield Township

Not from Michigan or familiar with the area. My dad and I were so excited to find this place on the side of highway that wasn’t a “fast food” chain. The lady taking our order was SO sweet and helpful and the kids outside on the picnic tables were telling us all about the community. Besides kids on bikes, we were the only people in a car. We weren’t even done with our food, and this man very rudely asked if that was our black car (a rental) and we said yes and he very rudely goes “well it would be nice if you moved your car right now and didn’t take up 3 spots”. First of all, this hole in the wall establishment didn’t even have parking sports marked so we honestly didn’t even know we weren’t in an “actual” spot. Plus the lot was completely empty at 3:00pm on a Thursday. We apologized and said we didn’t realize and he again got in our face about moving the car (which we were also sitting so close to we could touch it). I’m not sure his issue, but he is not a nice person to his customers let alone cares if a customer can finish the last bites of their meal in an empty lot, before moving the car and driving off. Needless to say, we just left and threw away the rest of our food because we have a long drive ahead of us. This breaks my heart because up until this encounter, we were enjoying ourselves and the banana malt for my dads 67th birthday. Don’t spend money here - you’ll be treated poorly and have the owner get in your face and berate you. Delicious food, terrible hospitality by the owner (which is the saddest part that he owns...

It's not the best experience I was hoping for. The older lady there gave me the wrong order and then told me the cashier won't me up wrong and got mad at me and said well we don't do junior for that and then said we'll agree rang you up for a different price and I was like okay. No apologies what so ever, no offering to make it right , nothing. I would have paid more just tell me that you made a mistake and have to charge me more and I have no problem. But to turn around and snap at me about the mistakes someone did and then giving me a water cup with icecream shake in it and charging me differently and then shutting the window fast in my face was rude. My kids were there and didn't understand why the lady was so unfriendly, they said. I realized there was a young new person taking orders and making an error, but it was not her fault . She was learning, and it was a training error, which I'm sure she is aware of now. But for the older lady that was handing out orders your behavior, your rude customer service behavior was not...

Dee's is a family favorite! My boyfriend's family is from Whitmore Lake and every time we visit we make sure to come by for food and ice cream! We recently moved to the area and it has become a habit for us at this point 😁 the staff is incredible and treats you like old friends, the food is delicious, and the sweets are the cherry on top! We feel very lucky to be able to stop here anytime we want 💛 P.S for those visiting to play on the lake, it's right next to Mac's Marina for all your boating needs!...
