I have never written a review, but felt the necessity after this stop. I'm Mexican looking for an Authentic Mexican restaurant in the burbs. My Asian buddy's buddy recommended this joint, so we checked it out for some post workout grub. Before I ordered, I asked if they had Horcharta (Mexican rice water), he replied, we're all out, we don't make it on the weekends." Red flag #1 What's with the suburban Mexicans not making Horchata? Red flag #2 We ordered chips & salsa, & you know what were served? El Milagro, straight out the brown bag!! Really, charging $2.25 for a small portion when I could buy the whole bag for less, wow! Red flag #3 I asked him if they had tres leches? (3-milk cake) he replied no, then asked, "you mean the cake?" I've never heard any other reference for 3 leches other then the authentic Mexican cake. Wow, what did my buddy get me into? On to the next flags 4 & 5. I ordered a steak burrito & my buddy ordered a Tuna taco (not sure if it was Bumblebee or Starkist) wannabe dried out chicken, bland & flavorless with a hint of lavender/soapy flavor. I literally spit it out!! As for my burrito, I inspected it 1st, as it slipped out of my hands from my grease drenched fingers. I understand a little grease, but this mug was saturated! The steak was like ground beef, lacking the flavor & authenticity we were on the prowl for. There's my review, please don't let the other 4 & 5 stars fool you. This should be a reality check to the rest of them, won't ever be back!!! Epic failure. You...
Read moreI used to go to La Taquiza every week and I used to bring many people from my work there for lunch but not anymore. Last week we didn't have time to sit down to eat lunch so we called to place an order for pick up. When we arrived we were informed that they had no order for us, so the lady called their sister location which is a 2 lights away and they told her that we had placed the order there. I asked if I can cancel the order at the other location and place one here and the lady said no. I told her that I would still like to place an order at this location and she told me "I can't take your order". I understand that the mistake for placing my order at the other location is my fault but saying that you can't take my order is beyond poor customer service, so now she will NEVER take my order again or the order of the people I used to bring with me. I'm saying this because I have restaurant managerial experience and loyal customers for these type of places are essential, if one of my customers that comes in every week makes a mistake like that I'll eat up the cost that week because I know that I'll make my money with their continued business in the long run. I hope it was worth the 7 bucks that they saved that day, losing a customer that has been going there for years every week.
P.S. the other place the food is not good and they messed up my order and had peppers in my order when I do not eat them, so I ended up being hungry the entire day.
I'm sad because La Taquiza Taco Tuesday was one of my favorite days...
Read moreTheir carne asada isn't steak. Its cheaper beef that's boiled or slow cooked, like pot roast and then finished on the flat top. Their horchata comes pre poured in styrofoam cups so everything settles and tastes bad. That's why legit places have the drink mixer machines that constantly prevent that. The lady at the counter for some reason didn't even acknowledge that I walked in, and then got my order wrong because she was on her cell phone. Rude. She then tried to put the blame on me. The best part is that from the moment I walked in i just got a blank stare and no greeting like I shouldn't be there, and while waiting for the messed up order I was about to receive I saw something I've never seen before. Every other customer that came in after me was greeted as soon as they walked in and given the correct food. There was a pattern of reverse bigotry that was about as foul as the boiled meat that they try to pass of as steak. Nunca jamás voy a comer aquĂ.
