Cortados are usually about 4 ounces; they informed me that theirs is two shots and equal parts milk. That would be around 4 oz, since a single espresso shot is around 1 ounce. The drink I received is at least 10 ounces. I wanted what was described, a smaller, stronger drink. It took over 7 minutes to prepare despite no other orders at all, and no one waiting.
They seem to have forgotten about my drink immediately as one worker asked the other why I was standing there.
I stay informed about the war in Gaza, I would rather not see pictures of children and adults who are missing, held hostage, or dead when I go out for coffee. I go out to feel comfortable and relaxed, not unsettled. This is a hospitality setting, and this display -- at eye level for children -- is disturbing and upsetting. It also turns the cafe into a politicized space and I imagine that can get very uncomfortable for people working there, as has happened elsewhere. I just don't want to read dozens of "kidnapped" posters while waiting for my drink to be prepared.
Espresso in my drink tastes burnt and smoky. This drink is also way too hot and the milk is not as sweet as it could be if it was heated less.
I would never go...
Read moreI was traveling for work and looking for a good coffee shop to settle at before a meeting. When I first saw that this was connected to the Metra station, I almost left because I was worried it wouldn't be a good spot to hang out at. Quite the contrary! First off, a very welcoming atmosphere. I met the roaster and we had a great chat about coffee. Second, great coffee and great breakfast sandwiches, even for a vegetarian. The arugula was a very nice touch. A lot of the ingredients for the food came from local sources. You might have to be flexible with the arrival of your food, as the train was leaving soon after I arrived, so there was an in rush of people needing coffee quickly. Just be aware of this, but everything was worth the short wait. I left for my meeting, which ended up being cancelled. However, I couldn't resist going back to buy some coffee beans from the roaster to ensure I could get more of that great...
Read moreFor starters, I am not the biggest coffee drinker but I do occasionally like some caffeine. The location is within the train station which is pretty unique and cool. The inside is very cute and welcoming. The staff are also very welcoming and kind but the coffee I had wasn’t so great. The coffee that I got was the white chocolate mocha hot coffee. I decided to go with this one as I enjoy the taste of Starbucks version of it. The coffee was warm which was great but the taste was not so great for me. The coffee was very watered down and seemed to have that fake syrup flavoring. It also gave me the acidic stomach feeling after a while. Maybe some of the other options for drinks they have are better but I just didn’t enjoy mine. The price seemed to be a little pricey for me for a 12oz drink. I didn’t get to try their pastries but they did look...
