My first experience with The Dump was great. Kip was very helpful and I love my end tables. While there for the tables I saw an area rug I wanted. I went back a few weeks later and purchased the area rug. It was early March just before the world closed down due to Covid.
I anticipated a delay in shipping so I did not bug them about delivery until Late May when the country began to open up. My in box was bombarded with Dump sales and purchasing enticements the WHOLE TIME they were closed due to Covid urging me to spend online.
I tried the website first to check on the status of my rug. Got zero response after multiple attempts. I tried reaching out to the salesperson, Nancy, who actually took my order. Zero response. After multiple attempts I reached out to Kip, the salesperson who sold me the end tables. Nancy finally sent me an email telling me she would check with her managers. Zero response for several days. Started calling Nancy again. Zero response. Called the store once it “opened” again for business and spoke to Josh, a store manager. He said he would check. I told him I did not want to hear from Nancy, only him. After not hearing from him for several more days NANCY sent me an email and told me that they weren’t shipping and if I wanted my rug (which I paid for) it was going to cost ME $200 to have it shipped directly to me. I told them I expected them to eat the shipping cost and get me my rug. And to which Josh told me he was not going to do that, and again if I wanted my rug I would have to pay the $200. So when I told him to refund my money, he did so with zero argument and zero regard for store policy which states all sales are final. Full disclosure, o was not kind to Josh. Not because I had to wait so long for the rug. But due to the total lack of communication and total lack of concern on Nancy’s part to even tell me what was going on. I have redecorated my home from wall-to-wall with every furniture store across Cook and Lake County Illinois. Never have I experienced such a level of poor customer service and lack of communication as I did at The Dump in Deerfield Illinois. So disappointing because I really like their selection. I liked going in the showroom and just browse. I will never go back and I urge everyone reading this to seek out a different furniture store in Lake County. The Dump cares nothing about Customer Service nor doing...
Read moreGreat place to buy from. My daughter bought a sectional from The Dump in Deerfield 1 year ago and got a nice quality built sectional for her new home. The couch wears like iron and is spill proof. Which is great, because while she was out of town I spilled on the couch and had enough time to grab a paper towel to clean it off before it set. At that moment I decided we would buy a new recliner couch and matching reclining chair from The Dump. I picked something online that had all of the options we needed. The only problem was the color. On the web page the color looked mostly white, but it was named Grey. We had to go to the store to see the couch and feel the couch. The store is massive and has a lot of choices. From the moment we walked in a sales lady named Barb came up and asked if there was anything in particular that we were looking for. It was nice that she asked, because the store is so big we would have been looking around for the items we came to see forever. After sitting in the Gianna Gray Power Recliner and Recliner Couch, we were hooked. I couldn’t believe the price. Something must be wrong. I looked to the underside of the recliner and saw they built the two furniture pieces with quality materials. The two items were comfy and firm. What I really loved was that all three of the motorized controls were in the crease of the seat cushions and armrests. What a great feature. You don’t see the controls anywhere on the exterior of the couch, which is so much Cooler. Barb showed us all the features the two pieces had to offer and was very knowledgeable about the stain and material warranty. You must ask about that warranty. If you never use your warranty, they send you back a check for your extended warranty. I have never received a check back from a warranty. From start to finish, Barb was great and everyone there was really cool. My wife even went to the management at the store to let them know how great Barb was. From now on we are always going to look for Barb at The Dump for our home...
Read moreI had a fantastic experience buying furniture at The Dump. Zak, who we worked with extensively, really is a master of the trade. When I make a big home purchase, it's important that I get to work with someone who is sharp, quick witted, and understands what I'm trying to do with a particular space. In these respects, you can do no better than Zak, who was there to help me every step of the way with the furniture buying process. I had a complex room with a lot of constraints, and Zak was willing to take the time to listen and understand exactly what pieces I need. I was genuinely very impressed with his competence and ability to explain the relative merits of each individual piece on the show floor.
I ended up with a leather couch and a table that are both of high quality and character. I looked at many other furniture stores, including Ikea, Dania, Ashley, Walter E Smithe, and everything else on Milwaukee Avenue. After a while, I was feeling discouraged because no where seemed to have the particular pieces I wanted. This was quite discouraging. I'm glad I found The Dump, because in spite of their horrible name I did find that they had the best selection of furniture in the area.
When it came time to checkout, I found Toni and Nancy very helpful at wrapping up the sale and handling final discussions related to the delivery timeline and pricing breakdown. Overall, the cost of the furniture was fair. It's not much cheaper than other retailers, but the quality does seem better. I wanted something that wouldn't fall apart in a year or two. Based on the quality of the couch I received, I can't imagine it eroding with time.
I'd suggest checking this place out. It's cool. And Zak is a true master...
