Asia Cafe Sun — Restaurant in Norton

This place as gone downhill by a mile since jack sold it. I used to get my lunch to go here regularly, always had good food and always nice and hot, like a hot bar should be. Well, since the new owner has taken over I've been back a few times, each trip more disappointing than the last. Well today was the last trip. I went in and made a hibachi plate to go, the grill says always open, I stood there for over 5 minutes without being acknowledged by the staff, so I left my plate and got food from the hot bar. When I got back to my desk (literally less than 2 minutes from when I bought this food) I found my wontons still cold in the middle, the pepper chicken taste funny and the honey chicken they started serving since jack left is horrid. As if that wasn't enough, while I waited, again, at the counter I saw the new owner pick up a plate someone had set down and start putting the food back into the trays on the bar. The trip before this as I left I looked over and saw a rat the size of my dog coming out of the dumpster in broad daylight. If you want hibachi save yourself the time disappointment and food poisoning and just drive to Pikeville or kingsport. The only reason I gave this 2 stars instead of 1 is because I'm not sick, yet. Today, 12/21/2017 my family and I decided to give this restaurant another chance.......BIG MISTAKE!!!!! We showed up about half an hour after they opened, got seated right away, and went to the Hibachi grill to make a plate since there was someone standing behind the grill with it empty. There was a lady sitting next to me, my wife and I making plates, once ready for our food to be prepared, there isn't anyone behind the grill at this point, so we wait. Probably about 3 minutes or so goes by and someone dressed in plain street clothes walks up to the grill and throws all three plates on the grill in different spots, we tell him if we want rice or not and go about getting a small plate off the hot bar to eat on while we wait on the hibachi plate to be cooked. I make my plate of Honey chicken, wontons, and stuffed mushrooms. The mushrooms were ok, the Wontons were all but empty, and looked like they had been sitting a while and were cold. Then i get to the honey chicken, now again this place has only been open for about half an hour. I take a bite of my chicken and it is not warm at all. It wasn't cold like it had been in a fridge, and it wasn't warm like it had been sitting on a hot bar for a while. It was room temperature like it had been sitting openly on the hot bar overnight. At this point my family and I walked away, without eating and this time when i say we will not be back, i mean that. Don't waste your time and money, much less take a chance of having a loved...

Doug and I ate there on special occasions ever since ine Thanksgiving everything was either closed or packed. We had never eaten there at that . time. Jack had this business in Norton afyer that we went on special occasions , they had snow crab legs all you could eat on the bar at that time. Once they built near Ealmarts we started going there when we had Dr. Appontments and recently we have seen a big upgrade in cleanliness and server's appreciayion. We eat different foods my favorite fish and his chicken. This it makes more sense for us to eat at Asian Cafe I love the snow shrimp and mushroons we both eat what we want and all we want and it is even more affordable recently since the tecent change in management. Amy the manager now has good report with her workerd and it makes for such a more pleasant eating experience there. Now we don't worry about the language barrier nor whether or not our tips actually go to the server who eaited on us. We have averaged eating there 3 or 4 times a month since the management change. ItsI like Jack is back and the bar is kept fresh always when we have been there. Keep up the hood work guys ,the manager couldn't do it without you. Way to go Asian Cafe. You get a Five Star rating once again for the first time since Jack left.. We had left there a few saying we would not be back , now we are there more than ever. God Bless and way to go. Food was ok however I'm giving this a low rating due to the fact that they charged me almost $30 for our meals which was standard buffet meals and then refused to let my 3 yr old take her plate to go and in order to do that I had to pay an extra $7 to take home her meal that we already paid for and they just throw it away anyway. Well they are supposed to anyway. Not sure what the big deal was but completely unacceptable! Also, the cleanliness was subpar! Tiles missing in the women's restroom floor causing my 3yr old to trip and just a simple dollar store cheap bottle of soap on the sink instead of a sanitary dispenser on the wall. Also I had to wipe off the toilet seat just to let my 3 yr old use the bathroom cuz there was someones nasty excretions on the seat. I expected more for such high prices. The window shades in the dining area were also full of dirt and food left from someone else's dirty hands. Also I got the impression that they treat their employees unfairly as well since our waitress showed real fear of even talking to the management about my issue with the pricing. I don't think I will be returning till they do something about these issues. Best of luck to anyone else who decides to give it a try! Seriously wish I had taken pics but I was too upset to even think about it...
