Fishtales — Restaurant in Norton

Well. I hadn't been here in 5 or 6 years and I live a mere 20 minutes away. Used to be another family style long John silver sit-down type fare with mostly fried breaded stuff or tasteless broiled stuff. I just heard that they were recently under new management and had turned this place into something of a sports bar with ample new seafood offerings. Had to give it a try. I was impressed. We sat in the bar area in a booth. Bunches of flatscreen TVs with mostly sports channels. One CMT channel and a local channel. Dark, but cozy. Booths had padded seats. Initially we were seated in an adjacent dining area where the booth seating was cold and unpadded. Not good. We asked to be moved to the bar area. We ordered a salad (huge) and I had the blackened catfish and shrimp platter. My wife had the broiled seafood platter. Portions were large, except for the catfish; it was about half a filet. Must have been 50 small hushpuppies on each plate. A bit of overkill, I thought. Flavor was good and very filling. Drinks were Pinot Grigio and Sangria. Bartender and waitress were very accommodating and cordial. No room for dessert. Place closes at 8 o'clock though. We eat late. Nice decorations and three separate eating areas. We will definitely give this place...

Fish tales used to be a great place to sit down and have a nice meal?? What happened to it I have no clue they have changed the menu prices are raised but on that part what hasn’t! They used to give plenty of hush puppies which are the best hush puppies I’ve ever ate this time we might have got 8 small pups it was sad! I don’t think we will be returning unless they make some major changes! Me and my mother in law both got flounder wasn’t worth crap! Updated!!!!…………. We went there as a group of 15 and it was much better food this time!!! Only thing that could use some more attention is the popcorn shrimp as the bottom half of the order was soggy! After moving to NE Tennessee 8 years ago, we've been on a quest to find a good, reasonable seafood restaurant. Yesterday was our day! We went to Norton for a different reason and found Fishtales in the same location. Hub went in to see what it was all about while I waited in the car. I decided to see as well and met him coming out the door with a takeout menu. Looked at my watch, it was noon so we headed back in for lunch. What a gem!! He ordered a platter, I ordered a cod sandwich. They came out quick and hot. His platter was massive and he couldn't finish it all. Service was excellent, our server very friendly and upbeat, the place was decorated perfectly for what it is. The food was delicious! Not fried to a crisp and our taste buds danced with delight!!
