We went to this restaurant last night to celebrate my wife's birthday. we live just a few miles away and had heard good things so we thought we'd try it.
It turned out to be one of the worst dining experiences we've had in years. The ambiance is terrible, the acoustics are bad so you almost have to shout to be heard by your dining companion. And the tables are placed much too close together, my wife spent the evening bumping chairs with the person behind her. These things do not make for an enjoyable experience.
Those things by themselves don't warrant a single star. It was the rest of the dining experience that did that. By the way, I gave it one star only because there is no option for no stars.
We waited over an hour for our entrees, and that was after we'd already finished our appetizer so it was actually much more than an hour. When they did arrive my pork chops were very over-cooked but much worse; the chicken in my wife's entrée was raw, not undercooked, raw. And because it was covered in sauce she actually took several bites before realizing it. Which of course brought thoughts of food poisoning and salmonella to mind. Just what you're looking for when you're dining out!
She then ordered a simple pasta dish as a replacement thinking it would be quick; it took almost thirty minutes to arrive. By that time I'd finished my dinner. We thought that, given the circumstances they might have rushed her replacement meal but apparently they didn't find it that urgent. We were discussing just leaving when it finally did arrive.
And then the waitress informed us that she'd wanted to comp our entire check to make up for our horrible experience but the manager would only allow her to deduct my wife's dinner. Normally that would motivate me to have a heartfelt discussion with the manager but by that point we'd been there for over three hours and just wanted to be out of the place, and never return! The entire experience was bad but the final straw was them charging us for anything at all. Had they voided our check entirely, or even just charged us for our drinks, it may have made the experience a bit less terrible. It would have been the gracious thing to do, the right thing to do, for us and for their reputation. It's what a real fine dining restaurant would have done. Of course we very likely wouldn't have had that experience to begin with at a real fine dining establishment.
The South Shore has many great restaurants to choose from, do yourself a favor and choose one of them instead of...
Read moreI have been here numerous times over the past 5 years and i am very disappointed with the service i have received the last couple of times i have been here. I always have a reservation and am greeted pleasantly upon arrival but i feel that as soon as we are done with our meal there is a rush to get us out the door. The most recent time was a final straw for me. We were just about finished with our dessert and drinks, bill was just paid and for the last 20 or so minutes of our time at the table we noticed the waitress kept looking over at our table and making gestures toward the hostess as if to say "i don't know" which i felt was speaking to how much longer we would be there. To top it off while we were getting our things together and were barely out of our chairs the hostess came over and draped a new tablecloth over one of our chairs. We were still there! I could not believe she did this right in front of half of my party. I am very saddened by this incident because i do love the food there but i don't believe i will be back there anytime soon, and neither will any of my fellow diners present with...
Read moreWe have always LOVED San Pietro - my husband and family have been frequent dinner guests over the last 15 years - now 6 months into Covid and ordering take-out - they clearly have not gotten their act together. I called at 4:30 on a Saturday to place a take out order - asking for advice - should I put in my order now for a 5:45 pick up? No, I was told - call back at 5:15 - I repeated - So I call at 5:15 for a 5:45 pickup? YES she said. I call at 5:15 - get put on hold and listen for ten minutes to the hostess seat people, field complaints in a rather snippy voice - then I get hung up on. I call back - wait my turn and say: I am placing an order for a 5:45 pickup - Oh no, I am told - it will be an hour. I explain that I called earlier and this is the protocol I was told. Sorry - we're busy. You can come earlier, but, the food will be ready at 6:24 (rather snippy and rude). No apology - no empathy - no customer service. Apparently they don't know that Saturday take-out is popular - that's why I was being pro-active calling much earlier in the first place. Frustrated and not sure I will return. Very...
