Frustrated doesn’t even describe how my experience was. Came in ordered 2 slices of pizza and some garlic knots with marinara. My husband ordered chicken parm that came with a salad. She brought out salad and chicken parm at the same time (who doesn’t deliver the salad first) but whatever … while I sat there watching him eat (he felt terrible but I made him while it was still hot) I patiently waited for my food and sipped my wine. 10 mins later she comes over and tells me that my garlic knots had to be remade. I said no problem don’t even worry about them at this point because my food should be out any minute and my husband was almost done eating and they were supposed to be the appetizer. She brings them over a few mins later anyways. She forgot my marinara sauce so I waited for her to come back over and she never did. My garlic knots got cold while I waited another 10 mins or so until I finally flagged someone else who wasn’t my waitress down (I hate doing that it’s rude) finally she brought me marinera and I ate one garlic knot cold. I ran out of water while waiting for my food and the waitress never showed her face again. The manager finally comes out and tells me he burnt my pizza and a new one will be out shortly and apologized. My husband was finished with his food at this point. I was sad but decided to wait anyways. Then it comes out and the bottom was SO SOGGY and disgusting it wasn’t fully cooked I was so upset that I almost started crying. Then I waited and waited for someone to come back over for me to tell them my pizza wasn’t cooked (which never happened they were too busy cleaning up trying to leave). I got there at 8 pm it was now 9:10 and they don’t even close till 10 on a Saturday night. I was in tears. The only compensation they offered me was the free garlic knot that was COLD mind you because I waited about 10-15 mins for the sauce. I am honestly disgusted… my bill was still over 30$ and I never even got to eat anything but a piece of bread. They were not busy and I just don’t understand how this is acceptable to treat people this way. I will never go here again and I urge you...
Read moreI used to frequent this restaurant with my wife, for date night, and even bring all our children sometimes. The prices were a bit higher than average, but not too much higher and the food quality & portions were great. I just recently went back, for days night with my wife, and was very unpleasantly surprised by much higher prices and lower quality food standards. My wife's $17-18 fish and chip order was soggy wet, and the portions on her platter were much smaller than before. I asked for a garden salad for myself, not a side salad, but a full-size garden salad, and received a bland salad consisting of mostly lettuce, two tiny cucumber slices and two cherry tomatoes, in a dish or bowl the size of my deceased Grandmother''s small christmas candy dish, and for $7 ??? The only upsides were that my Wife stated her fish and chips were flavored well, though soggy. I was very disappointed that a restaurant that we both used to love, has gone downhill in quality and portion sizes, but way uphill in pricing. Sadly, I'm not sure if I will return unless I hear from many others that Illiano's returns to it's old tradition of great food, great portions and truly fair prices.
Update: prices are still higher than the New London Illiano's Restaurant, but my food portion was small. At least the food tasted of higher quality this time. I prefer the New London...
Read moreI stopped by here on my way back to Boston with my family for a pick up order to take with us on the road. We ordered 12 garlic knots and a Hawaiian pizza. I have not been to Illiano’s since I was a little girl and I also never tried this location but I am so glad I did. As soon as I walked in, the aromas from all the dishes that were being made instantly brought me back! The customer service was outstanding and the order was made quickly even though I didn’t order ahead of time and I wish I remembered the gentleman’s name who took my order at the register to add to this review but next time I come, I will edit this and add it. He was pleasant to speak to, took my order and then told me he’ll take my payment once the order is ready and that it was okay I wait in my car. He came out to let me know it was ready not even 15 minutes later and provided me with plates, napkins, and utensils and wished me and my family a safe drive home. The food had fresh ingredients, the garlic knots were so soft and buttery, and it was gone before we even made it halfway home! This order fed a family of 6 (2 adults and 4 children 7 & under). I can’t wait to come back to the area and try other items from the menu and hopefully dine-in this time!! This experience alone told me all I needed to know...
