Friday, Jan 26 my brother and I went to the pub for dinner. I had the fried chicken dinner. When it arrived I was very surprised at what I was seeing. KFC is well known for giving their customers the smallest pieces of chicken in the world but they would feel shame and embarrassment if they gave anyone what I received. Live and learn, I felt that I ordered it so I ate it. Then, I ordered the fish dinner since I didn't feel like I had eaten anything at all. We didn't see our server much while we were there so I stopped another server and described the chicken dinner. The chicken was two pieces of flat boneless chicken meat about 3/8" thick and about the same size as my two year old grandson's hand. I was told, it sounds like they had given me the chicken from a couple of sliders instead of the chicken breasts. That sounds about right and it’s even more pathetic that they have an employee working in the kitchen who would mistake two chicken sliders in an order for a Fried Chicken Dinner.
So then, our server brought our bills and we each paid with a brand new $25.00 Gift Card and a credit card to cover the balance. After he brought our credit cards back we noticed we both still owed the full amount. We asked someone to find him and tell him we needed to talk to him. We were told that he said he was too busy. So, this person asked what we wanted to talk to him about and we explained. Then he came and told us that each of our Gift Cards rang up for only .01 cent and he didn’t return the Gift Cards. He said, he was too busy to tell us about it so he charged each of our credit cards for the full amount. My best guess is, he was planning to keep the $50 in Gift Cards as part of his tip.
The next day, I contacted The Pub with the contact button on their website. I explained our experience on the previous evening.
It’s been 2 weeks since I contacted them and they have never responded.
Update; Shannon, from Pub Guest Management responded that I should send an email with more info because my web response was never received.
I responded directly to the email given. It's been more than 3 weeks with no response from Shannon.
I need to remove the 1 star that I gave, this place is more pathetic...
Read moreWent here last night for a birthday dinner. I ordered the Beerhaven Burger (I think that's the name) with fries and a Pear Nectar mocktail.
We arrived around 6pm-ish and there was clearly a work event or something going on but the dining room was still open for walk-ins. It took a few minutes for someone to finally greet us at the hostess stand but once they did we got to pick where we wanted to sit. The dining room is nice but the seats with the fabric upholstery definitely could use some cleaning, to say the least.
My Pear Nectar mocktail was perfect! I'm pregnant and definitely appreciated the mocktail portion of the menu booklet on the table. It was fruity with a bit of tartness. It was around $7 which is kind of pricy for the size and non-alcohol aspect, in my opinion, but it was still good. 4/5 stars due to price and size.
My burger and fries were FRESH and HOT! The pretzel bun was toasted on the inside and they added plenty of cheese and fried onions. I wanted to eat more than just half but we went to get frozen yogurt after dinner. The fries were also well salted, hot, and crisp. No complaints about my food whatsoever. 5/5 stars.
Service was decent. Our waiter was kind and helpful but not always around when we needed something. We quite literally never saw him walking around, especially when we were handed back the check and there wasn't a pen to write a tip. My mom had to hunt someone down to get a pen. Otherwise we couldn't have left a tip! 4/5 stars.
Would I return? Heck yeah. I'm more inclined towards the food vs the service, and the food was amazing. I'd like to come back on a weekend when they do live music. It'd be a...
Read moreThis place is... well, a pub, of sorts. They have food, drinks, etc. It looks like a British local which I assume is part of the appeal. We went on a Friday evening just to try it with a friend. We all sat at the bar.
None of us was particularly impressed by the food. I ordered the apparently award-winning fish and chips and they were good, but how they won any awards was beyond me. It was one giant filet of fish wrapped in breading that just refused to stick to it, so I had to fight around on my plate to get a bite of both at the same time. The chips side were fine, but for the price ($19) I was hoping for more food. It was underwhelming.
My significant other ordered grilled salmon which he also said was mediocre for the $23 price tag.
Another comment: I used to be a service worker and get how unpleasant that job can be, but the bartender who served us was pretty incessantly removing plates the entire time we were there without appearing to ask if they were finished, or asked if we needed refills... etc. It kind of gave the impression she wanted us to hurry up and leave even though the restaurant was very not busy at all, and there was plenty of time before closing. Certainly it didn't create the environment I expected of a pub---I was hoping for something more welcoming.
I'm not sure...
