Hmmm, I see all these great reviews. Based on this being a place where firefighters are supported, I was curious and checked them out. I do admit that I already have a favorite sandwich shop, actually a few favorites. I was comparing them to those favorites and found them extremely lacking. The Sandwiches are small and expensive with a small variety of options in comparison. I'd say it's closer to a commercial place like a Subway sandwich shop than a deli. I guess I also had the wrong impression of who would be working there.... Somehow I thought staff were firefighter related, but it was local young folk who don't have great service talent. But what really kinda threw me was that when I tried to tip, I was pointed to a donation jar for firefighters. Huh? I am trying to directly tip the actual real human working in front of me and I can't? Instead I'm supposed to donate what these employees earned for tips to the firefighters as a nontaxreducing donation? I was under some impression the firefighters were given the profits from these places. I can see for myself there's a place to donate to the firefighters. If I want to donate to them, shouldn't that be a choice I make consciously and not one forced on me by stealing the monetary acknowledgement I'm trying to give the real life actual human being who just served me? I may not sound PC because of how adored firefighters are, but there's no way the sandwich makers should be forced to not accept any tips and suggest they be donated to the firemen instead. That leaves a nasty taste in my mouth as someone who has spent many years depending on tips. I bet if they could make tips there would be a higher level of service. To me it's a bully move. Like a little nerd solves a big problem and then a shiny jock jumps forward to grab credit and rewards. I'm not going to waste my money here, sorry. I'd rather donate to a firemen's fund that I can deduct from my taxes and give a tip to the server for a their work with a fantastic and twice as big sandwich that cost a few dollars less in more than one location in Novato. There's several great sandwich places in Novato, one is even serving out on a...
Read moreThe first time I tried their steak & cheese sandwich it was awesome! Second and third time, bad. Today I ordered my usual steak & cheese with: White Bread ∙ Side Pickle ∙ Banana Peppers ∙ Bell Peppers ∙ Hot Peppers ∙ Lettuce ∙ Olives ∙ Provolone ∙ Steak ∙ Caramelized Onions ∙ Caramelized Peppers ∙ Deli Mustard ∙ Mayo ∙ Sautéed Mushrooms.
What I got today was: White Bread ∙ Side Pickle ∙ Bell Peppers ∙ Lettuce ∙ Olives ∙ Cheddar, I think? ∙ Steak ∙ Mayo.
I wish I had a car so I could march over there and tell them to do it right!!! It makes me literally fume!!! Their sandwiches are good...if they can ever make them as ordered. Thankfully, GrubHub refunded my money...again.
This will be my last time to ever order anything from Firehouse Subs again. I wish I could get delivery for Italian Delight, their cheese steak sandwiches are the best in...
Read moreWow...that was bad. I've never been to a Firehouse Subs before and this probably wasn't the best intro.
As we arrived there were a couple of guys concerned over what they ordered and what they paid for. Fair enough, mistakes happen. Then we ordered our food and then the comedy of errors began.
The food took 22 minutes from ordering to being delivered. One Italian sandwich had soggy bread from the juices(?) And made it awkward to eat by hand. The meatball sub was perfect!
They forgot our chili side and when I asked about it, the cashier said he would go warm some up. I guess that meant in a microwave since when he gave it to us the center was ice cold but the inside was hot. He forgot the onions and cheese we paid extra for.
The food was not good and the service was pretty bad. I think I'll do a Mr. Pickles sandwich...
