(Total amount + sales tax) x 20% = automatic service charge regardless of the service quality!! 3% card transaction Fee !! Modifying your omelet can be super expensive as small changes would add up $$. Why would a customer pay 20% service charge on sales tax ??đ
We are regular customer of their competitor around this area, today we wanted to try NOVI breakfast club brunch a family of five adults and two kids had breakfast today. The food was OK. Service was decent.
However, the most disappointing matter is the restaurant try to rip off the customer. They charge me 22% service charge automatically which was included the sales tax and in addition 3% card transaction fee as well.
Upon discussing with the owner this matter, she mentioned her girls survive on the Tips so I was wondering if we have to pay the service charge that the service has to be the top notch level Generally, the restaurants do charge a service they are high-end restaurants not a breakfast place like breakfast club of Novi. If the owner expect customers to pay their server wages and card transaction then Iâm grateful they didnât charge me for gas and electricity bill đ.
I understand tips is super important, we American customers generally pay 15 to 18% service charge and if the service is really good, then I try to put 20 even 22%.
It was quite disappointing that almost a big chunk of money they tried to charge the customer on top of the big bill, so my bill was over $200 for 5 adults and two toddlers.
Moreover, I donât mind paying lot for good Cappuccino but then it to be served properly. So my three order of cappuccino to go was served in a big form cup with straws in it, which was horrible because the coffee got cold super quick.
Positive finding: Food well prepared and presented nicely Busy place, menu looks good. For big table they do take reservations which is nice. Freshly squeezed...
Read morei diner in yesterday afternoon, i asked for a single gluten free pan cake and a egg/potato bowl. they seemed to be super busy which totally fine I understand but i asked for a gluten free pancake and i may have been talking to fast but when my food came out it was not a gluten free pancake. I did not know this as i am eating it was cold so i stopped eating it and waited for my bowl once my bowl comes out i can feel that half the bowl is hot and half is cold so i eat a bite itâs just lukewarm at best. i wait for the waitress to come out she says sheâll remake it but iâm starving and my pancake was already cold and my stomach was starting to hurt so i just wanted my food warmed up no problem she did that and then the table next to us asked us if our food was cold we said yes they said their food was cold as well. we now get the recipe and i was charged $6 for a pancake which i thought was a little pricey for a cold non gluten free pancake. I only found out it wasnât gluten free when talking with my mom after breakfast and she said the res did the same thing brought her a big pancake then the waitress came over fixing it. So not only did they give me a non gluten free pancake, how am i supposed to know? iâve never gotten pancakes here, iâm just going to eat what was in-front of me. It was just cold and gross, and so was my bowl. I took it home to heat up and found a long blonde hair. I have brown hair:/ Just disappointed in this place I usually enjoy my breakfast here, I hope next time the kitchen will be more prepared and accommodating with allergies. Thank god I am not severely allergic to gluten and just get stomach aches. Just be carful and slow down I donât mind waiting for a good warm breakfast, but it sucks to wait for food, and it comes out...
Read moreToday at this restaurant, I and all Asian people in the restaurant, were seated at the bar despite having open tables. Meanwhile white and black couples arriving at the same time were given tables. After being seated at the bar, and receiving next to no service, the restaurant staff would not allow Asian customers to be seated at the many open tables in the restaurant. This felt very prejudiced witnessing the treatment of asian versus non asian customers. The bar we were seated at is a dirty location littered with receipts as it is a multi-use spot and is not a place for enjoying a meal.
The experience was very uncomfortable. It took over 1-hour for our food to come out, and we seemed to be largely ignored during that time. When we did ask for something as routine as a refill for a coffee or creamer, we were treated as a burden. The server continuously made reference to a mess in the kitchen, while she yelled at other staff.
The bus boys were very kind and helpful and attentive earning all stars here.
The owners and servers should consider doing some soul searching to their own prejudices and consider each decision and reaction they make and whether they are openly showing stark differences in their attitudes. Perhaps they are not aware. I've been here without asian family members and been treated differently. Such a shame. If there is a response from the owners, know we are not interested in excuses or rationale. This review is an open request for some of the staff to consider their implicit bias...
