My husband and I wanted a quick hamburger and I had a brilliant idea (so I thought) to try a new place. The gentleman that was working Friday (7 p.m.) was really patient with us ordering (being our first time) and he’s very nice. We found a table to sit at and then I saw someone enjoying a shake and I had to have one.
There was a couple ordering so I stood behind them (next to the drink machine). I didn’t realize there was a line where customers wait and no one was waiting in line. Another customer walked in and I saw him line up in the correct spot (he saw me waiting while walking in). When the lady working walks up to the second register (she must have been alerted from the customer entering) and as I step forward to order she says, “it’s not your turn”. I proceed to tell her, “I’ve been waiting in line before he even walked into the establishment. It’s my first time here and I didn’t realize I was waiting in the wrong spot, directly behind the customer being helped. As she just looks at me with a blank face and says nothing. I ask if she’s going to help me and take my order? Instead of maybe saying, “can I help you or oh sorry for the misunderstanding I thought you were with the people that are ordering”. She replies, “what do you want”. I look up at the menu to order a shake and then realize that I don’t even want the dessert from someone that’s making me feel very uncomfortable. Especially because this same lady could potentially make my shake.
Mind you, that the customer behind didn’t object to anything that I’ve stated because he saw me waiting in line, like a normal person. I simply tell her that I don’t need to order anything off the menu. I understand that people can make mistakes (I stood a few feet in the wrong spot in line) and that the employee didn’t realize in fact it was my turn. I had to justify that it was my turn to order and not once could she even apologize for the misunderstanding. The employee could’ve handled the situation differently and in a professional manner. She didn’t even say one word to me as I walked away and I sat at the table to wait for the food. Obviously, I wasn’t in a rush because I had already purchased a drink with my order and I was waiting for the food that I ordered. If it wasn’t for me already placing my initial order, I would’ve just walked out the door and took my...
Read moreWe were carving for some nice burgers and decided to head to Burger21 in Novi. I loved the concept of a classic American hamburger place with the shake bar traditional barstools with a clean contemporary touch.
We went for the Cheesy all Angus burger, an impossible burger, chicken tenders, and an order of hotdogs. Needless to say, the food arrived pretty quickly, with everything looking fresh and tasty. The Cheesy was exactly what I was looking for, a medium-well patty with Swiss cheese, crunchy lettuce, and a soft, nicely toasted brioche!
The impossible burger was also perfect, juicy, and with great taste (I can’t believe it is not meat!). Not sure if they made them on a separate grill, so I recommend checking before ordering if you have dietary restrictions.
The hotdogs were a nice surprise, with a soft and toasted bun with a bit of sweetness on it, which reminds me of when I make hotdogs using Hawaiian buns. The Chicken tenders were sooo crispy and came with a sweet BBQ and a chipotle mayo – we added a few of it on the burgers, and it was awesome!
For dessert, we got a strawberry and Oreo shake that instantly became a new favorite.
The whole experience was a delight, and we look forward to coming back to try more of the many options they have, like the crispy chicken burgers or the Spicy Thai Shrimp burger with a...
Read moreMy husband and I visited over the weekend, around 1:30pm. The restaurant was empty, and the staff were cleaning. The place looked clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was made to order. The first thing I noticed when we walked in, was that there was nowhere to sit where the sun wouldn't be directly in our eyes. As a frequent migraine-sufferer, this is important to me. We asked the hostess if they could pull down the blinds at all, and she said they don't have any. There was also no clear direction as to whether you order at the counter, or they take your order at the table, so that's definitely something they should improve on. The food is decent, the burger was pretty good. The fries were thin, but they weren't crispy. And the sauces were all kind of bland, except for the ketchup, which tasted really sugary. All in all, it was okay, but that's it. I don't think we'll be back. For the same price, we can get Bagger Dave's across the street, and they have window shades and beer. This would probably be a better place for teens to hang out, as long as...
