I'm not sure if this is a one-time thing or not. I arrived on Saturday, Dec 9, 2023, around 5 30 pm. I can only sleep in a big bed and booked a room with a king bed. When I arrived, I was informed, "There are no more king beds available." They had apparently given away all rooms with king beds; "we are pretty booked up she said." I did not book a room with a "king bed subject to availability." If there were no king beds during my booking process, I would have found another hotel. The lady at the front desk tried to give me a room with a queen bed. She refused to upgrade my room, did not try to offer me any compensation for the inconvenience, and seemed generally annoyed with me (like I was the one with the problem). When I refused to take a room with a queen bed, the same agent says "oh the room they just called me about has a king bed in it." Spoiler alert: she did not receive any calls as I was standing there, and it literally took her 1 minute to say that after I refused the room she offered. The room was comfortable enough. No complimentary water, no one offered to take my bags, the fridge had nothing in it but there's coffee to make if I want it. The bathroom counter had water stains. It's all ok as the bed was comfy and the towels are nice and the shower has good water pressure. Come 11pm - 1 40am (the time I am writing this review due to lack of sleep). I have my neighboring tenants to thank for this lack of sleep. They are out in the hallways, they are loud, and it seems they are having a party. My third call to the front desk is pleading, "I understand they want to have fun, but please ask them to do it in their own rooms rather than in front of my door." I can finally hear the staff talking to them at 1 30am outside my door, telling them to go to their rooms. I understand this is not the staffs fault, but I can't help but feel they could have intervened earlier; additionally they could have some policy about noise after midnight or they could have a policy about the number of people in a single room. After all this, I have a business meeting in 5 hours, I won't have time for breakfast because I need to catch up on sleep and the hotel breakfast isn't included in my booking fee. If this is Hilton service, I am glad to know this now and will avoid this place...
Read moreLocation right off the freeway is very convenient. Within 10 minutes of every restaurant you could think of. The ambience, decor, smell and overall appearance of the lobby/entrance are very welcoming. When you check in you are given the most amazing warm cookies. The check-in process was very quick and easy. Plenty of amenities like snack in the lobby available to purchase, shuttle service within 5 miles of hotel, very nice gym, pool, very good variety at breakfast and coffee 24-7. When we entered the room and hit the switch there was no light that came on. We had to leave the hallway door open as we searched for the light that the switch controlled. Once we got the lights on the room seemed dimly lit. As usual we inspected the room. The beds(most important on our list) were clean and fresh. The floors were a little dirty. There was garbage and a lot of dust behind the nightstand and around the chair. The bathroom was decent. We noticed the mildew around the shower and floor boards right away. The bathroom fan is in need of upgrade. When took a shower the room instantly filled with humidity and fogged up the mirrors. We noticed water all over the floor on opposite end of where the shower head is. It was spraying water in different directions. The shower curtain seemed shrunk and did not cover the whole shower adding to water on the floor. The pool area was very dark and water has a green tint to it. Not very inviting at all. As a parent of two children, one 12 and one 10, the pool is the highlight of any hotel. It was disappointing. The pump room door was propped open and dangerous for small children. I take a lot of things in to consideration when I write reviews. The DoubleTree by Hilton has a good reputation therfore held to a higher standard and expectation. An acquaintance that stayed in another room at the same as us had the same feelings with their stay. They stay in plenty of hotels and chose this one based off the reputation of the name. Read moreI am very big on customer service. I do not like customer service. Booked my stay at DoubleTree By Novi. I am very big on getting great service no matter what or how much I pay, etc. I stayed in this hotel for 2 consecutive weekends by booking through priceline. Last week I had a King Bed which I requested this week. I am writing this review because it's not the cleanest and it is not the BEST hotel to stay in. I have stayed in nicer hotels in Novi because I book a room each and every weekend to be closer to work. Today I was informed that because I booked through Priceline I CANNOT get a king room because Priceline booked for double bed, which they did the same thing last week. Now the words CANNOT is not CUSTOMER SERVICE first off. Secondly, I just stayed here Saturday-Monday of last week and I COULD get a KING bed. She said we CANNOT change the room type. Wait a second she did not say it's NOT AVAILABLE. This is complete crap because I just had a KING BED?!? I didn't want a double bed if you have availability and it has been done before how can you say it CANNOT BE DONE. I would never stay here again it's about integrity and quality service. If you are not being Forthright with a customer you have failed at both quality and integrity is it hurting her to allow me to stay in a KING ROOM if it is available? I do not like being lied to and that was a lie you CAN book a KING ROOM you just didn't want to. I am actually an honors point holder for HILTON HOTELS, which I've book though Priceline on plenty of occasions the HILTON GARDEN INN NOVI, which caused me to book directly with them because the staff there are phenomenal and if they had availability they made sure it happened even if it was not the same room I requested they honored my request for a KING BED, NEVER SAYING I CANNOT CHANGE ROOM WHEN BOOKED THROUGH THRID PARTY WHICH IS BULL!
