Houston TX Hot Chicken — Restaurant in Novi

🚨Rare 5 ⭐️ Review🚨 Arrived at 5:00pm on a Sunday afternoon and was immediately greeted by the gentleman behind the counter. Had to run to the bathroom which were very clean by the way which is not that common in restaurants. When I came back to the front my wife and son were in conversation with the guy about the menu. He was very polite and very thorough in explaining the spice level. We all three got the sandwich and extra tender. For the spice on the tender, I got the second from the top called the lift-off. I had to stay conservative on the sandwich and went with medium spice. Total was about $60 and some change. So about $20 per person which is fairly standard. We were given a number that you put on your table and they bring the order out when it is completed. While we were waiting I noticed that the interior is very clean and everything was orderly. Our order came out just under 10 minutes and it looked very good. Now I am very particular with chicken, especially the texture and how it is cooked. If there is any kind chew to it it’s a dealbreaker. The sandwich was very moist and cooked very well. The medium spice was not that spicy but had a good flavor. So far so good. Now to the tender…I cut the tender into 4 pieces and took a bite. I was expecting an immediate burn but there wasn’t any. Now at this time the guy who took our order came over to ask how everything was which I really didn’t expect. Personal attention is hard to come by especially at a restaurant. I said to Bill “you know I was expecting more spice” he then said that was your first bite right? I said yes it was…immediately after I said that it hit me. The burn started and kept building and building. It was hot, very hot but not unbearable. The personal attention turned into a very nice conversation with Bill. Myself and family especially my 13 year son had to say after we left “he was really nice”. Oh and by the way if you like ice cream and waffles you have to try waffle milkshake. It’s a 13 year old approved shake. We will definitely be back soon. That’s my experience so if you are ever in the Novi area and looking for a quality chicken tender / chicken sandwich stop in and grab lunch or dinner. Don’t take my word for it or any other review…go there and find out yourself.

I got really excited when I heard about a new Hot Chicken spot in Novi -- it's been such a big trend recently, but after having lived near Nashville and experiencing so many iterations of Nashville Hot Chicken, I'm always stoked to try different options for Hot Chicken!

The ambiance in the restaurant is interesting -- it feels like a classy bachelor pad became a chicken restaurant overnight. Overall pretty cool, and offers most of the amenities you'd expect for a fast casual style restaurant: plenty of seating, easy layout, etc. The staff is super nice, patient, and offers recommendations if you've never been there before; very helpful and we appreciated it!

The food is where I was a little underwhelmed. The value proposition is fairly solid, and you get a good amount of food for the price, not to mention that they offer a lot of variation in spice levels and varieties of chicken you can order. I will say the spice calibration is set up to where the spicy level is just shy of a spicy chicken from a Wendy's or McDonald's. This is not what I'd expect from any restaurant quality Hot Chicken, and especially not what I'd expect from a place that specializes in Hot Chicken.

Overall, I think there are so many good options for food in this area -- personally... I'd probably skip Houston TX Hot Chicken and try...
