Big City Diner - Pearl Ridge East, Hawaii — Restaurant in Oʻahu

Today, my husband and I went to the Pearlridge location. We go to this location frequently and pretty much have a good experience. Today was NOT one of those "good" experiences. Our waitress, Mina, came to take our order and it seemed like she was having a bad day. What seemed to be a bad day was totally misread. Now, my husband and i are always pleasant to our waiters and waitresses, even when the experience is not so pleadant. Our waitress, Mina, barely smiled at us and somewhat just placed items on our table and walked away without any acknowledgement to our many "Thank you's". But as soon as she went to other tables, she was cheerful, engaging and overall pleasant to other customers. Both my husband and I could not figure out why she was so unhappy serving us. Sadly her mentality with us continued throughout our time there. She never once checked on us after she gave us our food. We had to ask one of the other servers for napkins and water. We wanted that part of our day to just end, so when we wanted our check, she was nowhere to be found. My husband went to the restroom and surprisingly saw her sitting in the outside dining area looking at her cell phone. About 10 minutes later she walked by us without even looking our way (taking care of another table's check). i ended up calling out..."excuse me, can we get our check please?" She gave this look of such disgust, handed me our check, which I again, said "thank you" and handed her my card to pay. She ran my card and handed me my check and said "here" and walked away. Needless to say, she likely didn't appreciate her tip (you get what you earn and we always tip at least 30 plus percent...not this time), and we won't likely return to the Pearlridge location...

One of our favorite locations. Great food and service. Best server Wendy! Very busy location. located across of Pearlridge Mall. Early bird, happy hour and daily specials. Live music and sports on the screens. No wifi. Update 3/5/19 Fat Tuesday brownie pie 15% off Twitter. Military is only FOR ACTIVE NOT VETERAN bummer. But they were super slow and under staff. Lots of take out orders. Maybe one reason. But once we ordered; came quickly but our eggs were rushed to cook, that it was under cooked. But the meal was delightful and delicious. Need to pay attention if they have more take out orders coming in, make sure you have staffing for them and your patrons dinning in.

7/23/21 adjusted hours and menu (forgot to get a snap shot of it) food prices are about the same except the drinks are expensive $3.99 for unsweetened ice tea, Im not even sure if it's refillable? probably not since it didn't say it on the menu and the server didn't asked to refresh it. Water listed on menu showed $2.50 bottled as for soda $3.99. Due to Covid-19: staffing/employees are so few, it has been tough on BCD "no one wants to work" Its understandable with Covid-19 delta variant triple digits rising daily. Saw their sign outside for a keto menu. Turned around to go inside as we are keto and thought this was great. Parked and walked inside and stood waiting to be seated with barely any patrons in the restaurant, maybe 5 or so in a building probably big enough to hold 100. Approx 10 minutes goes by and we are seated and given menus. We quickly notice the menus given did not have any keto items on there, so when the waiter arrived again shortly later we mentioned the sign we saw about the keto menu. The waiter advised there was a different menu for the keto items and proceeded to walk off to retrieve the new menu. The waiter comes back to the table with two keto menus and lays them down in front on both of us and then turns and walks away giving us time to look them over. Seeing that things are not only not very appetizing looking but also priced well over double what the meals should be costing. After deliberating for a few moments about what to order we actually decided to just leave. We hadn't ordered anything, however between the weird smell, sticky menus and run down booths that you feel like you will fall through there is no way...
