Getting ice cream and a pikake latte from Sage is our weekly ritual. Friends & family coming over? Sage. Finished a week's worth of work? Sage. Went for a run? Sage. Bad day? Sage. Good day? Sage! This native Hawaiian, veteran owned, husband & wife team has found a way to elevate ice cream in a way we never knew we needed. When we go to sage, we're not just getting a cup of ice cream or a latte- each bite and sip is a pouring of love & a reminder that everything will be okay :) While some of the reviews mention a lack of samples available- we've actually received "samples" that far exceed what a tiny pea size amount of ice cream could ever provide to know this is what we're looking for! The samples we've received as we step foot in the door display commitment to aloha, excellence, life well-lived, and fun. When we walk into Sage, we get a sampo of love as the Sage pup walks up to us wagging his tail. We get a sampo of teamwork and empowerment as the staff tell everyone hi & share their fave flavors. We get a sampo of inspiration, encouragement, & sage advice as we look at the owners' brother's photo & journal entries, reminding us that life is short and to live fully. We get a sampo of other local businesses Sage supports and collaborates with by looking in the fridge, the artwork, and the menu board to see what new and fun flavors they got that month! These samples far exceed the experience any free sample of bite-size ice cream could provide. These samples provide a sneak peak into the values of life and love that Sage so FREELY shares with each and every one of their guests. And the way we see it- if these moments are the first things we sample when we walk in, then imagine how much more amazing, satisfying, yummy, delicious, etc. etc. the ice cream, lattes, matchas, pikake, etc. is? Spoiler alert- it's evennnn betttaaaaa. Overall- Sage is that good. No need sampo to know that.

With humble beginnings at farmers markets and then a food truck, Sage Creamery opened up their first brick and mortar store in the newly built Hoopili development. They create Hawai’i-inspired ice creams with high quality organic dairy with locally sourced ingredients, including vanilla beans from Laie Vanilla Company, chocolate from Manoa Chocolate, and kiawe honey from Manoa Honey & Mead. We ordered the Monoa Rocky Road, Ube cookies and cream, and Kiawe honey lavender. Super creamy and each flavor exemplifies exactly what their title states while enjoying flavors made from local vendors and product in Hawaii.

I’ve been hooked on Sage Creamery since the first spoonful of their Strawberry Fields flavor hit my taste buds at their food truck during a Sunday morning at the Mililani High School Farmers Market. That moment shifted my entire outlook on ice cream in Hawaii. Seriously, it was that good. From then on, I’ve been convinced they’re not just the best on Oahu, but leagues ahead of anyone else. Here’s why Sage Creamery deserves your attention, and why I’ll keep coming back no matter the drive.

What sets them apart starts with quality. They don’t mess around with subpar ingredients. Word is they use organic dairy, and you can taste the difference. The texture is consistently creamy, not some icy disappointment, and it amplifies the natural flavors in a way that feels intentional, not accidental. That Strawberry Fields wasn’t a fluke. It’s a testament to how they source and craft every batch. Whether it’s a classic or one of their monthly specials, the execution is flawless. Speaking of those specials, their creativity keeps things fresh. Every month brings new, unique flavors that make each visit a little adventure. Love the standards? They’ve got you. Crave something bold? They deliver that too. It’s a rare spot that caters to both without compromising an ounce of quality.

Their shop in Hoopili is a game-changer. Convenient if you’re nearby, but even if you’re not, like me, it’s 100% worth the trek. The vibe is welcoming, the location’s smart, and it’s become a destination for anyone who values ice cream done right. I’ve heard someone griping online about no free samples, and honestly, it’s a weak jab. Sage Creamery isn’t here to spoon-feed you a teaser. They’re confident enough in their product that you’ll pay for a scoop and leave happy. I’d rather they focus on perfecting what’s in the cup than doling out charity bites to skeptics. One taste, and you’ll get it. Samples would just slow down the line.

In my book, Sage Creamery isn’t just an ice cream shop. It’s the gold standard on this island. The combination of top-tier ingredients, inventive flavors, and a spot worth driving to puts them in a league of their own. Next time you’re craving the real deal, skip the hype and head to Ewa Beach. You...

Hands down the best ice cream I’ve ever had. One bite and you can tell that Sage Creamery puts their entire heart and soul into providing quality. So much thought goes into each months spread, to create a well balanced menu with both innovative and classic flavors. Every recipe and every batch has been given time and attention. The owners of Sage personally develop flavors that you may have seen done before, but never like this. The exactness of each batch blows my mind how it can taste exactly like what they mimic, but ice cream.

List of flavors that will change your life: PB&J: People make Peanut butter jelly sandwich ice cream and forget all about the bread. Not here! This one tastes like childhood nostalgia. Banana Lumpia: There’s freaking crispy lumpia wrapper bits up in there! Genius. Adobo: In concept, adobo is peppery and vinegary, and ice cream is milky. You know you’re good when you attempt this one and succeed. Thai Tea Oreo: Two of the best things on the planet combined and neither overpowering the other. Talent.

I could go on, but I guess you’ll just have to see for yourself. Thank you Sage Creamery for allowing us to benefit from the love...
