Zippy's Waipio — Restaurant in Oʻahu

It's weird how I don't live in Waipio but I've been to this Zippy's more than the other ones on this side. Every time we come here, there is a bit of a wait but our food is always piping hot and the flavor is consistent. We probably always get the same thing: Korean fried chicken, mushroom burger, Zip pack, and a musubi for the little one.

The last time I was there, however, there was some confusion. After my son spilled most of my drink (which I did clean, I would never just leave it...), I went to the front and asked for a refill. Most places, if you do get a refill, it's usually under a dollar if anything. I gave the lady my cup, and she filled it ALL THE WAY with ice added my soda (which in my head I didn't mind at the time because I just needed a little more soda) she handed it back to me and rang me up. $1.75 she said. What the heck?!?! For a freaking refill that you put ice up all the way? She already put the lid on that had the straw that I had drank from back on the cup. I couldn't have given it back to her and said no thanks, plus I had already taken a sip. What the fudge dude?! She should have told me that it would have been the price of a new drink before giving it to me.... And filling my frickin' cup up to the brim with ice.

Lame. That's all I have to say about this place. My rating of this place used to be a 4, but now I give it a 2 for that lame customer...

We went to this location on Tuesday 7/29/2025 when they had the Tsunami scare. We live on the Waianae coast & had just spent 2 1/2 hours in traffic just to get to our toddler at daycare. We didnt make it in time to go home before the first wave was predicted to hit, it was too late to try to get to our pups in Waianae, so we decided we needed to stop somewhere to eat, far outside the tsunami zone.

We don't have much family here, so we really didnt have anywhere else to go. As we ate, we sat there distracted, speaking of everything we would lose. Worried, anxious, sad, etc.,

Our waitress was very kind & friendly. My daughter kept asking about the token machine & when we were done eating, she brought her a token. She didnt have to but she did and that was super sweet of her. I wish I remembered her name. It was a small act of kindness, but it meant a lot & we really appreciated it.

We had the spaghetti and meat sauce with garlic bread & it was delicious. My husband ordered the Korean Fried chicken and it was delicious as well. The desserts were delicious as well. This was our first time at this location and we definitely appreciate & enjoyed it.

Definitely recommend going here....

Thank you to Zippys Waipio for staying open late for people who get off work at night, as while...we would normally cook at home, sometimes we don't have the energy or time to do so and are always looking for someplace else to eat other than fast food chain restaurants. Thank you for having all precautions to keep your customers safe and healthy during these times of the pandemic, and thank you to the guest greeter at the front to make sure we took temperature, sanitized, and showed us to our table, and as always thank you to our server Robin for always providing the best customer service. Every time we decide to come to this location for zippys, we always have Robin and it's always so nice to see her. Keep up the amazing work and stay safe to all employees. Keep your chin up and hang in there, you guys all work so hard to bring us good food and great service. I cannot stress it enough but...
