For Memorial Day, I ordered a pizza online for delivery to my father, who is a 98 year old WW2 vet. My order was taken, but said it would be ready for pick up at 5pm. I had ordered DELIVERY for 5pm. I then called the restaurant and talked with Miles, who said he would be there all day, was very nice and assured me it would be delivered around 5pm. I later got a call from a gruff delivery driver saying it was too far to deliver to St Charles from O’Fallon. He told me to cancel the order, which you can’t do because it tells you to call the restaurant. He said the owner would have to do it after he gets back in the country from Israel. I asked for the drivers name for my record of who all I have talked to (about one pizza delivery) and he hung up. I called back and asked him again and he hung up. I called back again and he gave the phone to a Kyle and refused his name again. I got the feeling the driver gets asked for his name quite a lot because he is so ignorant and rude. Kyle was nice enough, but said it was just a little too far to deliver. Thank God my father didn’t say Germany was too far go! Kyle offered a $5 off coupon. Lol!! I told him thanks, but I wouldn’t be needing that. Miles, who assured me he would be there all day, supposedly had gone home already. It was only about 1pm. I don’t think anyone knows what they are doing there! I have been a long time customer of Ami’s in Rock Hill, but I will no longer to business with them either. Great Memorial Day memory from Ami’s! I am not holding my breath that I will get my refund when the owner returns from Israel. And teach your drivers basic manners and people skills, or don’t allow them to talk...
Read moreI need to dock a couple stars after the most recent meal. I had their Cod Sandwich with fries and the Garlic Cheese Bread appetizer. The latter is still 5 stars. The fish Sandwich was almost embarrassing. Just a plain very crispy, low-meat (probably frozen an d prepackaged) rectanglular fish patty on a store-bought bun with PACKETS of tarter sauce. 2-stars just because it wasn't gross. I hope they aren't falling into disrepair (outside area is looking kind of junky).
Older posts from 1 and 2 years prior: Just had their Eggplant Parmesan and a side of Onion Rings. I'm bumping them up star. The eggplant was nearly fork tender everywhere along the rim (only a single edge on 5 pieces had a little resistance) and the center wasn't cooked to mush (a common side effect to get the outside tender). The onion rings were simple but just how I like them. Crispy without thick onion layers or uncooked batter on the inside.
Last time we had their Manhattan Pepperoni pizza and Cheesy Garlic Bread.
The Cheese Bread is amazing. The Manhattan was OK but should please anyone.
They are a little on the pricy side but no worse than most Italian and Steak restaurants. Manhattan might be best bang for the buck. Yes it's $22, but has an incredible Topping Area to Crust...
Read moreMy food was good enough to warrant a 5 star review, but my dining partner's wasn't quite there. He ordered the meatball sandwich (which was amazing 'i tasted it') and was offered an odd array of side options. He is diabetic, so he didn't want fries or a baked potato, and asked if he could instead have a salad, to which the waitress simply replied "no". We are still laughing about that today. I am sure they could have substituted a small salad in place of fries or a baked potato, or at least offered it as an extra charge, but just "no". We joked that i should order a salad and "promise" that it wasn't for him because he wasn't allowed to have one. Lol - anywho, he opted for mixed veggies, which literally tasted like they were stir fried. They were very good, but weren't we at an italian restaurant? The rolls were amazing, the toasted ravioli (while not the real stuff from the hill) was very tasty, and my tortellini was perfection. Oddities aside, if you live in the area and love italian food, i would absolutely recommend this place. Very good food overall. - The atmosphere is very chill, and cozy. Totally...
