Fat Rosie's Taco & Tequila Bar — Restaurant in Oak Brook

This was our first experience at Fat Rosie’s and we tried out the one in Lombard. I want to start by saying Jose B was a wonderful server! Super attentive, genuinely kind, really good with our daughters, even did a magic trick and brought them ice pops.very very great server. The restaurant also gave our girls little brand new sombreros which was adorable.

The food was ok. We have our favorite Mexican restaurants that we are likely skewed by, but I wasn’t overly impressed with the food. Good but not great.

Also, they had someone come by and take pictures (similar to Benihana), very cute. However he came back with them framed asking if we’d like to purchase 1 for $20 or 2 for $30. I asked him to come back and that we’d discuss and when he did and apologized but said we just didn’t think we wanted to do it, he turned and walked away clearly annoyed. Big turnoff.

Lastly, and the number one reason we won’t return, is the imagery. I totally understand Dio De Los Muertos and the cultural significance, but walking in to a wall of evil eyes and even a “Diablito” devil statue and then seeing figures with horns all over the wall is just not something that I want to...

I’d give the food 4.5 if possible. I’m gonna turn on my food critic and break it down: The free salsa was the best I’ve ever had! I could sit on that patio and eat it all day, except…I didn’t really like the tortilla chips. My daughter and I didn’t like the ahi tuna appetizer. It needs more seasoning. I loved the battered shrimp tacos! This is gonna be my go-to item. A margarita and the shrimp tacos, on the patio and I’m Gucci! My daughter and I both loved the steak Caesar salad. We’d love anything they put that grilled steak on. Next time though…I think I’ll ask them to chop the big wedge of lettuce and to bring extra sauce. That brings me to the service. We were served by a handsome and playful young man named Jose, who made us feel welcome and like our wish was his command. He even offered to help me with my Spanish whenever I come back!😊 Mzking a connection is everything and Jose truly gets it!

This restaurant is decorated fabulously, it’s very spacious with an outside deck, the bar is long with lots of seating! The atmosphere is amazing and the staff is outstanding great recommendations. If you don’t know your way around the menu with the best suggestions that will leave you wanting more. This Oak Brook location was new to me, and I later found out it was new all together, plenty of parking with outside, eating in front, and in the back of the property where a gorgeous fountain is located. My server today was, Adrian! This young man was well-versed with the menu and could answer every question I had he had a great personality, I personally purchased every recommendation he made, needless to say I had a great now and later meal. The entire staff was wonderful, very friendly, and willing to help with whatever needed. I will surely return with my entire family, great family orientated restaurant you are going...
