Casper's — Restaurant in Oakland

This is a hot dog stand from my childhood, it's right down the street from the original one that was spelled with a 'K' that's now in the process to be reopened under a different name but still to have hot dogs but I digress. All of these Casper's with a 'C' are really great. I love the one in Richmond and of course this one here in Oakland. Hot dogs are definitely underrated. I miss the one in Albany greatly. We used to travel from our neighborhood to the one in Albany and sit there and just eat like little piggies. Back in the '80s and '90s that didn't have as many choices as they do now. The old standard was the mustard dog or the cheese dog. But now they have a hot link and some other good stuff. One thing about these hot dog stands is how they steam the buns. You can always tell who the old timers are who work there. The buns will be perfectly steamed, on my most recent trip that wasn't the situation. These were newer people who work there. They did not exactly steam the buns old school but I could care less, I still ate my hot dog with a big smile on my face. Oh don't forget to get the specialty souvenir cup which is made in the USA and is very dishwasher safe. While they may not be considered Gourmet by many, Casper's Hot Dogs are one of the last bastions of old-school working-class American Cuisine in Oakland and the East Bay, and still maintain a lot of that value in their food. The way they put it together, the hot dog that is, small wedge of onion small wedge of tomato, maybe a little bit of mustard and relish, and a hot dog that snaps provides the perfect experience as you bite into a soft bun hit a hot onion and then have it cooled by the tomato, and then fighting into the snappy flavor of a delicious sausage, or hot dog, that is. I was up on Telegraph with Paeekaa Haackootkoo lookin for his son in law because he forgot to take his medication. I wouldn't normally go to this extreme but the dudes an albino and if he doesn't medicate each day he'll turn just as pink as Pepto Bismol from the sun. Ohh... a Casper's ...I think I'll go on and get a couple of chili dogs, all this walking around made me hungry, and Casper's puts out the best dogs in the world! The last time this little pipsqueek forgot his meds he was in Tijuana and when he turned Pepto Bismol pink the Mexican police jailed him because they thought he was from outer space, they even called NASA to come get him.
