Gregory's Gourmet Desserts — Restaurant in Oakland

I had such high hopes for Gregory’s! Wow! I’ve heard such amazing things! I called 4 days in a row to place an order for a German Chocolate cake for my mothers Birthday! LITERALLY each day something happened. 1st day was told to call back, 2nd day no answer, 3rd day was left on hold for 15 mins (yes u timed it because it was my 15 mins break) so i hung Up , 4th was told to call back because there was a line. After all of that i STILL tried! Called back today (Saturday) and the young lady said “I’ll have to check with my head baker so call back Tuesday” … i need The cake for Thursday so I’m taking this as a sign to continue to go to my regular “go to” bakery. I can’t rate them on “taste” because i haven’t had them in a while but what i will Say is this THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE! If it’s this much trouble to order a simple cake then it’s truly a sign that the cake is not needed in my home lol. Hey, you might have better luck but i didnt Have luck with them at all. Literally was a horrible experience. It amazes me that businesses act like you HAVE to spend your money! It was a privilege for me to try the 5 times that i did! I was Trying to give the business money and they said “uhhh uhh get somebody else to do it” lol Really hate this tho because i wanted To try the German Chocolate...

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE customer service. The woman with the glasses staffing the business was incredibly rude. She closed the door in my face (okay, I didn't see your one customer only in at a time sign, my fault). She finishes with the customer ahead of me and lets me in (no sorry, no greeting, just a blank stare like she couldn't be bothered). I asked what one of the pastries was since it didn't have a label, and she giggled like I said something funny. She gave me the wrong name for the item and then corrected herself. She rings me up, walks away to take a call, and then signals me impatiently to pay for my items. I pay, and she hands me the bag. No thank you, acknowledgment, nothing. Not even a look at my face. As I leave the business, she tells the next customer, “There is something wrong with that one.”

While the pastries are tasty, I don't recommend this place unless you like getting treated poorly. To the business owner (Gregory), please know how awful this person makes your business look. I first visited your shop during COVID and had nothing but good...

I don't really like to write reveiws like this. Unfortuately, I hate being lied to, and I was. I purchased a savory pastry here titled, "Carribean Jerk Chicken". Now, I admit that I don't often eat Carribean Cusine but, I do know that if something is TITLED "Carribean Jerk Chicken" one would expect to find CHICKEN in the dish. I did not. I found only mushrooms and spinach, lots of both, and no chicken. I went back, I verified that I got the right item and the women said, "Oh, the Jerk Chicken is really heavy on mushrooms and spinach." I said I couldn't eat it, which I couldn't, and I gave it back. She just looked at me and I left.

So the two possibilities, as I see it are, either she was lying, or the menu was. Either way, it's misleading and infuriating. I am not a fan of taking a bite of something expecting one thing and getting another. My advice, stick to the cheesecake. You know what...
