Ok people, “best Indian food in the East Bay” is a LOFTY claim and I am shocked by how many reviewers are saying it. This place is not bad, but the flavors are westernized, the service was awful, the ambiance leaves a lot to be desired, and honestly it’s a little dirty in there. Something about the ambiance and service feels like a fast food restaurant to me. My server rushed my order even though I was one of two tables, he brought my raita out with it spilling all over the sides of the bowl, my rice had no serving utensil, and he put my curry down on top of a dirty plate on my table... the food wasn’t bad, but it’s not the best in the east bay by any stretch of the imagination. Like I said, the flavors here are kinda westernized. One of the chutneys that was served in a squeeze bottle with the samosas tasted straight up the strawberry jam. If you want some bomb, authentic Indian food with the top notch service that usually accompanys it check out Himalayan Flavors or Shaan...
Read moreAmazing. Our regular spot for Indian food. Although their chicken vindaloo is not what you get when traditionally ordering the dish at an Indian restaurant, it is the best "Indian food" dish I have ever had and can't find it replicated anywhere else. Usually chicken vindaloo is bright red (a mix of chilis and vinegar) whereas high peaks version had much more diverse spices and wasn't so spicy you started swearing. Maybe they do it slightly different here being from Tibet? I wish other Indian food spots had this version of Vindaloo. All other dishes were also delicious (veggie pakora appetizer...
Read moreI'm sorry to crash the rave reviews but this place served old rice that was kind of all hard and stuck together in clumps and the naan was dried out because it was reheated/toasted. Not fresh!!!! The spice level was perfect and flavors were good but come on....rice and naan must be fresh and hot especially for a restaurant with such good reviews. The best northern Indian/Pakistani restaurant in still in SF and what used to be Guddu's but now new owners. Id also like more authenticity in the dishes such as using proper vegetables instead of using Americanized veggies like green...
