I hate to do this, I almost never leave negative reviews, but my wife ordered a Vegan Pork Belly & Mushroom soup and it had a piece of chicken in it (I like meat and ate it to confirm). It also had really bitter mushroom stalks in it that should have been either part of the soup stock or thrown out, but weren't good to eat. I got the Numbing Tan Tan Peanut chicken and it had more shiitake than chicken, and tasted more like hot pot - no peanut flavor at all and very thin broth, and noodles were overcooked and broken. Our friend had Vegan Beef Pho and it was okay, no surprise meat but still not great. Would've either not reviewed or given 2 stars if there hadn't been meat in a vegan dish, but I had to be honest because it's really important to some folks. Service was good, quick, and honest (they recommended against the Tan Tan, saying it was too spicy, it wasn't but it also wasn't good) so no fault there. Sorry, wish I could be...

very pleasantly surprised!!! We are experiencing a heatwave and i always crave Vietnamese food when it's hot outside. my son is vegan so I googled vegan Vietnamese and Holy Basil Pho came up. They have an incredible array of vegan soups. I ordered him the vegan "chicken" pho and he liked it very much. I also ordered the summer rolls with pork and shrimp, the beef carpaccio, an order of the bao buns with pork belly, an order of fried spring rolls and an order of grilled lao sausage over garlic noodles. First, i must comment on how they packed the food. . it was nicely done and the soup was perfectly packed with all the elements separate so my son could really customize his bowl of soup. Everything was really delicious. . . particularly the carpaccio and the garlic noodles. . . the garlic noodles are quite a generous portion. Highly...

So most of the time when I choose Asian food I look inside to see if any Asians are eating there.

Today I bypassed this method as I was quite hungry.

Unfortunately my method still holds true.

After I ordered I looked around and realized I was the only Asian person eating here.

I took a bit of the oxtail and bam! No flavor.

During this time was the first time I wished I was white as an adult, so that I wouldn’t mind the flavorless soup.

I would eat this again if it were free and I had no other food to eat.

But otherwise I would not eat here again.

I love you all as human beings but I do think it is possible to do...

The menu has more than expected, definitely something for everyone, including lots of vegan options! The food was delicious. There was only 1 server, 1 busser and 1 bartender for the entire restaurant which created an uneasy service experience. I was empathetic for our server as that was a lot of pressure for one person to serve everyone, however, she was fairly rude about it. Not sure if another server called out last minute or if this is how the business is run but it didn't seem fair to the service staff. Would definitely go back and hope the server is in a better mood and has better support, because the food was worth eating again.

A decent stop for Vietnamese food in Rockridge, but certainly not at the top of my list. If you travel a few miles out to Lake Merritt, East Oakland, or Chinatown, you'll build a list of high quality, authentic pho and vermicelli. The options here are plenty, but the quality of the food is not as rich. The staff lacks the experience and knowledge for simple asks such as cooking bean sprouts (a typical ask at a local pho shop), but the friendliness more than makes up for this. I order the seafood pho and fried shrimp appetizer, my wife gets the chicken vermicelli, and friends often get the beef pho.

Went when they first opened many years ago. Remember the bowl being big but not that memorable. Went today because my vegetarian friend likes they have a lot of veggie choices. Had the chicken and pork spring rolls to go at at McNally’s bar. Okay taste but still not blown away that I would come back other than for convenience sake. There is a bar area but I don’t know if people come just for drinks at the bar. Doesn’t seems so.
