Red Bay Coffee — Restaurant in Oakland

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. People with food allergies, AVOID.

I ordered a hot matcha and specifically asked for oat milk. I confirmed that it was oat and not whole milk twice as I am lactose intolerant. Then, when I got my order it tasted funny. I asked one staff member if it was oat and not whole milk and shared I had an allergy they said they would check. The staff member who made my drink apologized saying it was whole and they both looked at me, shrugging. At this point, no one had asked me for a refund or offered to make me my correct drink. I had to be the one to request a new drink and the refund as I was battling nausea immediately. The one who staff member who messed up my order did apologize and agreed to my request for a refund…which I still haven’t gotten. The other apolgoized and then I told them “it’s okay, but you guys need to be more careful as I have an allergy.” No response. Everybody makes mistakes, but the lack of accountability from the staff at this company was awful. I am now sitting here trying not to vomit as I have meetings. Also, I have drank cow milk in years for spiritual reasons so not only was this a health risk but also a detriment to my emotional wellbeing. Safe to say I will never...

I love Red Bay, and their coffee. This made the service I received multiple times at this location specifically all the more disappointing.

The space is quite small, and rather than choose to do a walk up window, they ask you to come in, but berate you if you do so sooner than they deem appropriate. They then force you to wait while your coffee gets cold for the next customers to order and slowly file through the cramped space before you can reenter and retrieve your drink, again berating you if you happen to even open the door for the person inside to walkout more easily.

I know Red Bay can do better than this, and I hope to revisit this review in the future if i notice improvements. But for now, I will be avoiding this location, and would...

Just stopped by this morning excited for the cold brew! It is the best. Though when I arrived in the store. I was not welcomed by either of the baristas. Yes it is a small shop but there were only three of us in the area waiting for coffee. No customers waiting, and it was raining outside. One of the baristas asked is to stand outside the shop.
