Hunan Village ripped me off. Let me explain how I was ripped off. I stopped in one night about a month ago, really hungry for Chinese food, and expected to dine in since there were 2 tables at which people were still eating. But the female employee at the front reception counter, who was busy tabulating receipts, gruffly said w/o looking at me, "No dine in; we are closing." So I asked if I could order something to go, and she said, still w/o looking at me, "Yes," but didn't even give me a menu. I asked if they make a certain Chinese dish, and she looked at me for the 1st time, and said still gruffly, "No." I sat down and noticed this elderly woman wearing an apron & mask walking around the restaurant, and asked her if I could order something. She was a lot friendlier and gave me a menu, and I ordered a pork dish w/tofu & vegetables priced at around $16. I waited for about 10-15m., got my order, paid for it & left.
So, when I opened up the big take-out carton containing my dish in my car, and started sifting thru it, I could barely find any pieces of pork; it contained mostly large pieces of onions, some bok choy, a few large pieces of mushroom, carrots and a few large pieces of dried tofu. And the few pieces of pork I did find were very small. Basically, I paid $16 for an onion dish w/some tofu & veggies. You won't find me going back to Hunan...
Read moreI felt cheated today when I was charged two dollars extra for a small scoop of fried rice that used day old rice, w/o advice. Then my Mongolian beef, although good was loaded with green onions that weren’t fresh. I was told this restaurant has been sold, but the manager tells me it’s to the same family. I am not sure what this means. Then besides the waitress helping me, the woman who claims to be a manager would come by from time to time, identifying herself as a manager. I am not sure what her higher rank is supposed to do for me? In addition, I had to walk back to get my receipt, as I was uncertain that I would charged on my credit card what I signed for. The water & tea were watered down. The waitress kept trying to take my plate while I was interrupted to sign the check. The complimentary bowl of hot sour soup was not hot sour soup & it was only a few soup spoon full. I had not eaten there for a long time. Today, I felt like eating out & I should...
Read moreI went to Hunan Restaurant 5/2018. I ordered shrimp fried rice to go. I thought $9.50 was a little high, but if it's good I am okay. Oh my gosh!!! but when I got home I had about 2 cups of white rice, 3 prawns (not the small shrimp),a little egg, and a handful of peas, no carrots. Nowadays you cannot trust Chinese take out food. I have tried the place across the street and had to take back everything I bought. If you are not eating in the restaurant, can see what you are getting and before you pay, do not order food to go at Hunan Village on Grand Avenue. As far as ordering Chinese food to go, I will not do that. I recommend sitting down, ordering your food, if it does not look right, get up and leave. Senfing food back is not a good idea no matter what kind of food you order. Good service,...
