Decide to surprise my lovely companion with breakfast from Waffle House. Made an on line order of two eggs scrambled with grits and an egg/bacon/cheese on Texas toast and hash browns plus 2 large coffees. (One large coffee would have been enough for both odd us). Waffle House adds in a 10% fee to give the server who prepared the order and they also ask for a tip amount. Normally for take out I tip between 10 or 15% because I feel it’s a one time shot. No one is coming to check on me, no one is bringing me additional items or refilling my drink. Sit down service I leave 20-25%. Tipping has gotten out of hand when drive through places wants tips, 7-11 wants tips, flight crews want tips, weed stores want tips. So annoying. But I digress. So Waffle House has a built in mandatory tip of 10% and they ask for a tip amount that the customer fills in and somewhere it says server keeps 100% of tip. I hope they keep 100% of the mandatory 10% tip also because that is what the second part of the tip I base my amount on. If the mandate tip is $3, I will leave an up to an additional $1.50. But as always that is a personal preference unless you’re cheap and don’t leave anything then that is wrong. Order was ready when I got there so it was a quick in and out which I very much appreciated. Food was still very warm when I got it home. Everything that should have been there was there and cooked as ordered. Made for a relaxing lazy morning on a weekday. Waffle House also has burgers, chili, chicken,...
Read moreAfter a very long 10+hour trip from Tn to Ocala all we wanted was something decent to eat! However, our food wasn't prepared as requested (ie. Eggs over cooked, blackened bacon, ask for AND were charged for hash browns with ham & cheese but they didn't add the ham, etc.) On top of this the waitress didn't ring our order thru the register she used the calculator on her phone to calculate our total without using the menu to check the prices, and when we asked for a copy of our receipt because the total was MUCH higher than we had estimated when we went thru the menu and chose our food. Hoping to be able to call in and pick-up our order since they aren't allowing dine in (even though there were ppl who weren't employees sitting at the bar top when we got there)but they wouldn't answer the phone. When we ask the waitress for the receipt she rolled her eyes got an attitude like there was a problem with us asking and typed out a receipt that had the total she charged us and NOTHING else not a single item price, not even a list of the things we had ordered Just seems to me that the employees here don't really care for customer service or customer satisfaction... I'm guessing my experience isn't an isolated incident as there's a huge hand written sign in the window saying "If you have a complaint contact corporate" I love Waffle House, it's a shame that employees that don't enjoy working directly with the public/customers pick jobs/work in customer...
Read moreHorrible service. We went at 11 pm and there was very little people in the place. It was 50 degrees in there, so uncomfortable that we were shivering. We asked to please adjust the heat and the waitress kept saying she was trying to get it taken care of but it never happened. Second, our orders got completely screwed up. The waitres supposedly lost our tab somewhere (because the place is so large where could it have possibly gone??). There were 3 of us and we all ordered a simple all star breakfast with minor additions-all of which were wrong. She brought us our waffles but no syrup. We had to ask for that. Then she brought us the meal, one had the wrong toast, so she brought the whole plate back to the kitchen instead of just getting new toast, and came back with someone else’s plate of food. At this point we just wanted to eat and leave. Then she forgot the meat. So she had to ask us for the 5th time what it was we ordered. Then....we went to pay and our friend wanted to pay for his separately-he told her exactly what he had....so she rang him up and charged the whole bill to his card....after he literally just broke down the whole bill for her and told her what he wanted to pay for. It was a horrible experience from the minute we walked in the place until we left. I’m not sure what in the crystal meth was going on but will...
