Donuts (Oceans Market) — Restaurant in Ocean City

I eat donuts in every city I go to. Hands down, Dolly's in Morrow Bay, CA, blew away every donut I have ever eaten. And I've had a LOT of donuts across so many places.

I hit up this spot with my hubby, on impulse. We got there late in the day and they were out of everything except sand dollars. So we got two.

They were excellent. Rich, buttery, moist, with a delicious glaze that didn't overpower the dough.

The owner says he only bakes in the morning and he usually runs out well before noon. That's actually more common than people might think. But that means that these donuts, which were at least in my top ten, weren't even super fresh.

I haven't tried all the other donut joints in OC. I'm actually not here for much longer. So I don't have any places to compare against on the strip, or any ulterior motives.

We were heading home and stopped here for gas at about 12:45pm on a Saturday, and although we don't usually eat donuts when we go to the beach we joked about the sign and thought well let's just see if these donuts are any good. Well, as soon as we walked inside, even though my eyes first said hmm not a place to get fresh donuts, my nose was hit with something DELICIOUS and although there weren't many donuts left and they looked unassuming, we got a sprinkles donut and a peanut donut. This place advertises itself as "Best Donuts on the Beach." I don't know if that's quite true, but I can say: Their donuts are not bad at all. Having just finished one of their cake donuts, I am pleasantly surprised to find my mouth does not have that horrible gummy sensation that Dunkin's cake donuts leave me with. Wow! So nice!
