Suggested by Scotty # 1 Choice (30 years experience, knows his stuff ) from Belly Busters on 45 th street. Also great place for close to the beach Crabs and sub shop. SHARK BY THE BAY did not disappoint. We were Party of 6 incl a 1 & 5 year old. The hostess sat us to an already prepared table incl high chair with a nice view of fishing & sightseeing boats outside. Amanda, a mature experienced server did a commendable job taking care of us. She gave us warm rolls butter & a tasty spread included in the basket plus a complimentary melbatoast garlic aioli spread basamic glaze drizzle. We ordered appetizer half order of steamed shrimp in white wine, lobster, garlic & butter broth with garlic oil brushed steamed shrimp.. Worth the work of peeling them.. Shared with all.
Since it was LOBSTER SPECIAL THURSDAY, ($5.00 off each LOBSTER DINNER BEWARE LIMITED AVAILABILITY) I ordered 2 of 1 1/4-1/2lb Lobster dinners with a wonderful side of squash & zucchini, Special mashed potatoes, melted butter & lemon wedge. PLUS LOBSTER fork, cracker, wet nap and extra napkins.

Read moreHow did we find The Shark on the Harbor we Google it while we were at Hooper's. Truly glad we did we parked then enter and we seated by the window. What's cool about sitting by said window is the window is actually a sliding glass door. Nice view of the state park I think. Our server Ms. Ashley, bring us our menus the menu is paper I figure cause it changes a lot. Wife order some kind of drink what it is I don't know it's reddish pink. I order a Coor's Light you know I'm watching my girlish figure :) ...
Bread is put on the table and a free sampler. Cucumber slide with coconut spread and smoked bacon. What I said What Smoked Bacon on coconut cucumber never that that combination would be that damn good. If the food would've been bad the sample would warrant 3 stars.
Wife ordered crab cakes seriously woman you already had crab cakes. We are in OC so you need to get on board is what I am told. True we are ok let me have the monk fish Ms. Ashley smiled and said ok. Now I never had monk fish my employers always told me it's the poor man's lobster. Now I don't eat shell fish not allergic just don't but I remember what it taste like.
The monk fish is seared nicely moist inside tender it had a coconut sauce on it adding a little sweetness to it. Now I can't tell personally how the crab cakes were but I will say my wife liked the lump meat crab cakes. She was happy with her order Wife ask what is a monk fish Babe if you see you will say no way. I was in a battle with the monk fish vs rock fish not know about about rock I think the monk was right choice.
The Shark is a nice place not fancy not cozy not cute I will say more like a bar lounge. I say this why cause the bar is behind and the table basically surrounds the bar. It was well worth the drive away from the hustle of the boardwalk and ave aka...
Read moreFood: Their crab cake was good and I loved their veggie sides, but I wish they had given more of them instead of the beans n rice and cornbread that we all agreed seemed like an odd filler that was honestly plain and dry.
My friend enjoyed her soft shell crab. She found the sauce to be an odd flavor combination... she said it was good tasting, just not on crab.
My son's basic fried shrimp n fries were good of corse, tho one of the shrimp were overcooked and dry.
My biggest complaint is that my ordered a glass of milk and it was badly spoiled... the waiter appilogized and brought us a new one, but I was disappointed when he did not remove it from the bill.
Service: We were very lucky to be seated with no wait (tho this was shoulder season). Our waiter was nice and accommodated my only wanting 1 crab cake instead of 2 for my meal for around half the price which I appreciated.
However, considering they were not that busy, it took a fairly long time for our food to come.. my son even started to complain half falling asleep on my lap.
Our waiter also never asked how our food was... neglecting to notice how I put the beans and rice on a plate at the end of the table to show I didn't care for it at all. A good server would have asked, taken it and offered a different side to replace it.
Atmosphere: We caught the end of the sunset which was nice to see on the water. The lighting was very relaxing and pretty in the windows to go well with the nice bay vibe. I was lucky and had a good view from my seat of it all. It was also not to loud which is very important to me (luckily not to busy which helped). My son enjoyed the shark things. My friends on the other side of the table however got a view of the bar and...
