I personally have been coming here the last 23 years with my entire family every summer and we have chosen this place because the food is out standing and my brother has a sever dairy allergy that was always taken care of correctly. This time was an experience and I WILL NOT COME BACK!

I recently was down in OCMD celebrating my cousin. I made a reservation for 8:15 because that was all I could get the day before outside. We showed up and we were told our table wasn’t ready. Waited over an hour just to be seated so don’t even bother making a reservation. Then when we got seated a female manger sent “bread to the table for free” after waiting so long. Our serve was amazing young girl and I felt so bad she had to deal with the management issues. We placed our appetizer and got the crab dip it comes out cold. The one girl who I was with had a dairy allergy and Gluten allergy and I assured her she would have no issues I was wrong. She asked for a piece of salmon with no risotto and just vegetables and was told no the chef can’t do that but he can make a piece of salmon on the side and you have to pay extra. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPEN WITH MY FAMILY IN THE PAST. She then ordered a salad and to top it off the stupid chef put crackers that aren’t gluten free on the plate.

After this we were laughing asking ourselves is this a joke are we being pranked because of the events unfolding. Then I asked to speak with a GM he came over and was very respectful and understanding of the current concern. He did take the one person meals who was GF / dairy free and gave a round of drinks.

With this being said and having over 8 years of experience working in the wedding / food industry this is completely uncalled for. It’s 2025 everyone has food allergies. This use to be my favorite place and it no longer is. If you have food allergies please stay away because you will not get taken seriously. A great place is Southgate grille never had an issues staff friendly and chefs will...

We have been here many times but never sat inside. Last night was our first time. It’s a beautiful atmosphere! Everything is top notch, very clean and we sat out on the enclosed patio area of the dining room. The Thursday night seafood dinner specials menu is AWESOME! There were some issues getting our table. The people ahead of us just wouldn’t get up and leave after they had paid their bill. We had to wait for an hour past the reservation time! We wanted to sit in this area and were offered spots inside the main dining area. Dad and I really loved where we were going to sit so… we waited. We were seated an hour later and the staff was fantastic and very apologetic even though it wasn’t their fault. It was packed because of the special menu and the Cruiser Weekend starting up. Nick, the Manager of the restaurant came to our table specifically to apologize and make sure we were happy. The hostesses must have told him about the lengthy wait we had. He really took care of us and made us WANT to return in June.. and me to write this review. The cheddar biscuits and salted butter, the tempura shrimp, Caesar salad, FISH AND CHIPS OMG and crab cake entree /with fresh grilled asparagus, loaded baked potato … absolutely delicious!!! Sean our waiter did a fantastic job and we WILL be back!!! Only small note… we got drinks at the bar first.. I ordered a Blueberry Lemon Crush. It was 11.00. It was literally berry vodka, club soda and a lemon wedge stuck on the rim. When she gave it to me I asked, where the crushed blueberries were and she said,””We are out of them, but it’s berry vodka” and I was like… ohhhhhh…well what makes this a crush? Nothing, nothing at all..(I didn’t say anything and I should have)… That was a waste of money and she should have told me that before I ordered it. It wasn’t that mobbed or anything yet so …. No reason to forget they were out of them… my bad… I should have...

Perhaps my expectations going in were too high. My entire party (of 3) arrived Saturday evening at 7pm for our 7:15pm reservation but we weren't even seated until after 7:45pm. The place was so busy which also prematurely inflated my expectations. There are 2 levels of seating both inside and outside and very glamourous on the bay overlooking classy docked yachts. Unfortunately other patrons also took away from the experience with some having had too much to drink and being obnoxiously standing in the walk ways blocking our wait staff from reaching us and making it difficult to carve a path to the restroom and exit. There was also a patron smoking tobacco and carelessly blowing his cigarette smoke in our direction, when he could have effortlessly blown over it it's over the railing and away from other. Still a very nice place. People were dressed mostly casual to business casual. Some were dressed up and some were in tshirts and bball shorts. Post-covid also apparently lended to some menu restrictions and discrepancies from the menu on their website. Overall, due to the wait time and other patrons, I would give 4.5 stars.

Food was tasty but not significantly amazing. Food portion was good - we had 2 orders of cheddar biscuits and a chicken quesadilla for appetizer, and our cocktails were a mojito and a painkiller. For entree we had pulled pork, shrimp pasta, and salmon and we weren't able to finish it all. We spent about $150 before tip.

Shout to the amazing staff and crew and all...

Went there on a beautiful September day for lunch outdoors . When order came there was an issue with cold not crispy fries. Instead of bringing a separate plate to take the fries back Kailey the waitress left me holding 1/2 my sandwich in my hand and the other 1/2 was told to put that on my husband’s plate which I did . Surprised me when I asked her to bring a plate out to take the fries back and this was her suggestion. She claimed the kitchen needed to see it . Never in my 50 plus years have I seen that kind of service After 1./2 my lunch was dripping on the bare table top as I had no plate, I went to ask the manager for one . He was not in , so Sean came to assist with my request .I passed our waitress deep in conversation about her family with another table talking for a few minutes when I went in to speak to manager Then,. I watched the runner bring out my fries in a bowl so I knew I still needed a plate. As Sean and I approached my table ,my husband said they brought just the plate out for my sandwich after seeing me speaking with Sean and 1/2 our lunch was gone and balance was cold . When I finally got back to the table Finally a plate !!! No apology ,no nothing ! This could have all been easily avoided and resolved by Kailey initially . .she seemed more concerned with what the kitchen would say than she did about being professional . Not a great representation of Subset Grille ! Sad

This place had everything you could want for a great dinner experience! We came here as part of our one year anniversary trip to Ocean City and decided to #treatyoself initially we actually got confused with sunset Island Grill which is about 20 minutes away but once we realized we drove all the way here because I really wanted some of the items on the menu. It's worth mentioning because if you just type in Sunset Grill you will often get the first option of sunset Island Grill on Google not Sunset Grille this location. Once you enter you are greeted by a great atmosphere with liveliness all throughout. There are multiple levels and our booth had a TV that was off however the table with the family that sat next to us was watching Netflix on theirs as they enjoyed a Tomahawk Steak that was brought out on a huge platter piping hot. I decided I wanted to get steak and a drink. My steak arrived promptly with great service from our server whose name sadly escapes me now. My girlfriend also enjoyed her meal as well and I enjoyed my sides and included chorizo baked beans and mashed potatoes. I also got the island coconut mojito. We opted not to get dessert as we were going out later so I can't comment on that unfortunately but overall Ultimate Experience 5 out of 5. The place is busy and there was a 30-minute wait so make reservations if you can or just be prepared to wait a bit.

Location: beautiful dockside view Decor: Polynesian inspired modern Pricing: high end, but VERY worth it Food: seafood primarily, but excellent steaks also available Two different locals recommended the Sunset Grille to us when we asked for the best seaside place to go. They were right, the Sunset Grille is amazing. At first the price was daunting given the entree prices ranged from 25$ to 30$. However, the steak, a NY Strip, was perfectly rare in the inside and seared to perfection on the outside. Served with an IPA steak sauce the steak's flame grill with spices give the exterior a charred texture to compliment the tender sweetness of the meat with the heady tones of the sauce. The Seafood Alfredo was decadent with zesty asiago flavour and mild lemony hints to accompany the buttery soft scallops, sharp tangy crab meat, and sweet & salty shrimp. The finally, not shown, was a Turtle Brownie Sundae. A massive dessert easily able too be shared with as many as six people! So wonderful, with warmth from the brownie to compliment the cool sweetness of caramel and nut topped vanilla ice cream. Served with coffee, an excellent ending to an amazing meal. We will definitely return to the Sunset Grille for our next vacation to Ocean City.
