As the #10 ranked donut shop in the United States, statistically speaking, with a lofty 4.802-star average across all crowd-sourced platforms, expectations were certainly high! Tatonut had a lofty reputation to uphold. And they definitely did not disappoint! I drove seven hours just to eat here! Yeah, I'm that obsessed about food.
The cookie butter cinnamon roll is easily the second-best pastry I've ever eaten at an American donut shop, only narrowly defeated by the Maple Glaze cronut at Five Daughters in Nashville, Tennessee. This unbelievably soft pastry melts in your mouth with the most exquisite frosting you've ever eaten!
All their other donuts are impeccable, too. But while an online ranking of America's best donuts suggests you try the Katrina pieces donut at Tatonut, which is an oblong doughy masterpiece of a donut, I'd advise that you try that cookie butter cinnamon roll if you want your mind blown! The lines are often long, a great indication of their reputation, but the wait it worth it. The extremely friendly employees keep the lines moving quickly, so don't worry about that. And the display shows off a wonderful variety of donut options. There is a distinct reason Tatonut is ranked in the top 10 in...
Read moreDrove here from Florida after doing research on places up my alley along my route to Arkansas. I don't eat donuts because I don't eat wheat and most donuts are just too sweet.
The donuts at Tato-Nut were melt in your mouth delicious. They were not over sugary and the toppings and fillings tasted homemade and full of flavor, they didn't just taste like typical store bought artificial and generic flavorings.
I got the S'mores, Bavarian cream filled chocolate, standard glazed, and maple. They were light enough to take a couple bites out of each and didn't leave my stomach with aches from a sugar rush.
I appreciate the fact the donuts are made with potato flour vs wheat flour and are made fresh daily. These donuts were the best I've had in a very long time.
I only gave 4 stars because I really wanted a hot chocolate and was excited to see it on the menu, however when I arrived and saw it's a basic machine with a generic powder mixed in water, I couldn't order it. I would give 5 stars if it was a handmade drink made with milk. Other than the cheap hot chocolate, I highly recommend Tato-Nut and I...
Read moreThe Tato-Nut Donut Shop is said to be the BEST Donut around. So this was a stop we had to try for breakfast.
It seems to be a local favorite as they were busy non stop with people and families stopping in. Parking is hard up front, but additional parking is in the rear.
We ordered a vast assortment of different items. But the only honorable mentions would be the Bavarian Donut and the Glazed Donut.
The cake donut was very dry and bland. Would not order again.
While the glazed donut was fluffy and airy. This would be the best item to get.
Service was very slow. The music was so loud, the girl at the counter talks so low, we would have to ask to repeat herself and ourselves over and over. Then would forget or mess up the order, so we would be back to repeating ourselves.
While the donuts were good over all, not sure if it was the hype with a big expectation that lead to the disappointment.
But would definitely go back to keep it simple with a trusted and faithful; glazed donut.
Hope it helps...
