We have eaten here several times and the food has always been great which is why we come back. Today we finally caught them for brunch. Food was good as usual but our server, Michelle, did not particularly want to wait on us. We sat at the table for 10 minutes before being greeted. She came up and said sorry I got sat twice. No problem. It happens. She took our drink orders and then came back and got our food orders. She immediately went to the next table that was sat and pulled out a placard that was on the table and explained that it was the specials that they had. I found ours and looked to see if there was anything on there I would like. It wasn't. Our food came out then Michelle disappeared. We had biscuits and Lady Mays is known for their homemade jellys. We were offered none. I waited 4 minutes and then asked to speak to a manager in lieu of my food getting cold. Michelle came running over then and said what's wrong you just got your food. I said you haven't come back to see if we need napkins or to offer us jelly. She said well jelly is an extra charge. I explained that if I didn't have the money to pay for extras then I wouldn't be out eating. She then said well what do you want strawberry or blueberry. I said both. I have been here a few times and know that there are more options but I was over it. I also explained to Michelle that if she didn't want to wait on this table she could send someone else over here. The manager came over and I explained the situation. She at first made excuses for Michelle saying that today was the first day of this menu. I said I just want to be treated like everyone else in the restaurant. I also explained that I waited tables all through college so I'm aware of how you should ask a patron if he/she would like a condiement then explain that there is a slight upcharge. She apologized and said she would speak with Michelle. I hate that I had this experience because it will be a while before I return to the Lady May. But this was my first bad experience. I did attempt to turn the experience around saying thank you to Michelle but after the second thank you went with no response I refused to say it again. She continued to give us bad service. But again the food was good. I was going to order desert but no way!...
Read moreI would like to start off by saying the server was attentive.
The food runner handed me my food, and I noticed a long hair on it. I immediately let the food runner know and without speaking one word to me--grabbed the plate from me and walked off (non-apologetic, etc).
The food runner came back within ONE minute and said, "the kitchen says they're very sorry and they just cooked you up a new plate." I asked, "this is all fresh food and a new plate?" The runner stated, "yes, ma'am, it is." I again asked, "this food was cooked and served to me in under one minute?" Runner said, "Yes, it only takes 30 seconds to cook eggs..."
Mind you, I had the Breakfast Plate which has eggs, gouda grits, bacon, and a biscuit. The bacon & grits were cold. The eggs were warm and the biscuit was hot. This made me feel like they just replaced the food that had the hair lying on it and not the whole plate and all the food.
I understand, at times, something like a hair falling into food is inevitable; however, the lack of sympathy and/or not discounting my meal really bothers me, especially when the food was not "freshly made" in under one minute...
The server never mentioned anything to me about the hair fiasco, so I am unsure if she was ever in the loop. Also, the manager never came by to make amends or check on me after my "fresh plate" was delivered. If the manager had come by, I could've informed them of my cold food.
Really disappointed on how this situation was dealt with. Whatever happened to the 'two bites, two minute' rule in which you check on your customers to ensure everything is great? ESPECIALLY after their food had...
Read moreLocally owned and operated, The Lady May has definitely exceeded our expectations across the board. Speaking of board.... let's talk waffles... and homemade jellies... and more waffles . I won't lie, after going for the first time I was so impressed by the food and customer service that I went back 3 more times that same week. Prices are amazing for the amount and the quality of food. I love that the flavor isn't your traditional breakfast... they add a touch of their own seasoning that adds its own unique flare and its different, but it works. I've yet to explore all the options on their breakfast or brunch menu due to the fact I can't ever make it past the breakfast plate or the waffles. However my fiance had their tuna dip stuffed tuna steak and loved it. For those who enjoy a bloody Mary or mimosa well they have their own mimosa bar. This place stays packed and it's well worth the wait. With inside or outside dining optional. Their outside courtyard is perfect with its own bar, fountain and cozy atmosphere. Let's not forget that the outside is pet friendly and they will also bring a fresh clean bowl of water for your furiend. We love supporting small businesses and love it even more when they're fresh, new and open the doors ready to go! If you haven't been then I suggest you definitely make plans to go. My only complaint (not really a co.plaint, more of a wish) is that they'd open a little earlier. They open at 9 which is great but for us early birds who like to get out early and get back home or to work by 9 or 10 then 8 would...
