So.... I'm going to preface this review with the fact that this visit was during the annual Ocean Springs Craft Fair.
We stopped into Mosaic for a quick lunch break during the craft fair. We were seated fairly promptly, between the Beer Room and stage area. After 15 minutes of multiple "has someone helped you yet?" stops from 3 different people, we finally flagged someone who was not our waitress and she was able to make her appear. Needless to say, we were ready with drink and meal orders. Our drinks came quickly and informed our food will be out shortly. 15 minutes go by.....30 minutes......45 minutes. During this time, we noticed other tables in our particular area are not receiving their orders either, so it wasn't just us. We were only offered one refill of our drinks. Thank God, I drink slow. We ask indoor staff about our food status, nothing happens. One gentleman, I assume was the manager, noticed we didn't have our food. He said "I'm sorry. I'm going to tell the kitchen to get it out here as soon as possible." He reappears 5 minutes later, offers an apology and says the kitchen has been informed. Our waitress shows up "It should be soon. Any minute." Then ANOTHER 10 minutes go by, we were literally placing money for our sodas on the table to leave. Suddenly, a completely different man shows up asking to see what we ordered. Miraculously, he produced all of our meals in less than 60 seconds. It was obvious our plates had been sitting for a few minutes. The food was barely warm, the cheese in the quesadillas was solidifying. But we were starving and ate it anyway, not wanting to risk another 30 minutes of time. While eating, the assumed manager shows up and asks if everything is okay. One of our party, who is involved with this particular industry, said the food was cold and service was not good. His reply?? "Well, I said 'sorry' and it's hard when we get slammed like this!" He walks away. Our waitress shows up (still hasn't offered another drink refill) and apologizes saying she'll get the owner. Owner never shows up. We pay and leave. Other tables were noticeably annoyed. I even heard one say they'd go look for street vendor food to hold them over.
So, we weren't impressed. While we understand this is a high volume time and we don't know what's happening behind the scenes, the manager's "I said sorry!" attitude was a huge downfall. Nothing was offered to help remedy the situation other than apologies and excuses. You were aware this event was coming, you should have been prepared. Especially with your prices. $2.16 for a Coke? Refills should have happened more than once in 45 minutes. Unfortunately, there's no ability to place blame on a specific part of this incident. The waitstaff? The kitchen? The management?
Maybe next year will be better for this restaurant, but we will not be returning. You have one chance to give a good impression in this industry and...
Read moreShady management, go to Leo’s; better atmosphere, better service, better food, and, most importantly, they remember you and are good to their customers. Despite advertising to the contrary, Mosaic started arbitrarily refusing to sell houka if they get busy with food orders; under the rationale that they’ll make more money. They do it without warning. Twice now, I have driven all the way to Mosaic and been told that they’ve decided to not sell houka for that one night. This inconsistency is frustrating and probably illegal or at least against advertising standards. Strictly out of courtesy, I asked if it would be alright if I brought an individual houka and smoked it on any night that I’ve driven all that way and they are not selling it. As common sense would dictate, I was told at the time that it would be fine. Then I show up and the management/owner of this place, Arturo, had the audacity to tell me that I am not allowed to smoke houka because it might make other people think that they are selling it to me and not them. What? That makes no sense whatsoever to me; an individual houka is tiny and looks absolutely nothing like the ones that they sell; and they weren’t even selling those. That rationale is based on greed and has nothing to do with common sense: Do you tell people they can’t smoke cigars or cigarettes because random passers-by might think you are selling it to the smoker and not to them? I could understand if they were selling houka but they’re not. Presuming to tell a regular customer that they’re not allowed to enjoy a legal individual houka at your establishment whenever you’re not selling it yourself as advertised is not only arrogant and greedy, it illustrates how little this business cares about their...
Read morethis place is ohkay... the music is pretty good the live music and the radio music. ive been here 3 times the first time i went all i knew was we were going to a hookah bar. you get here at about 930 and you see partying teens everywhere. and people who are bar crawling. which is perfectly fine if all of that wasnt accompanied with families being present at the place to. smoke, beer, and 7yr old girls is a weird combination. then on top of that you have these people doing a triathlon or something of the sort there too. i just feel its in a bad location. the best bar people go to is Leos down the street and its next to the YMCA and there is a running trail around too. which is what causes this horrible blend around. The tapas bar seems to care more about alcohol guest than just the normal guest smokiing hookah or that wants to eat food. cuz its litterally impossible to get your order through. but even when you get your order through it takes forever to get. I oreder a sweet tea litterally 25 mins to make. table next to me order long islands and hes back in a flash. not enough waitors and waitresses. But i did go at like 5 one day and it was pretty chill my experience was absolutely phenominal. probably about 4 customers there. no partying teens or drunk adults hanging around. theres still the triathlon people and kids but it doesnt conflict with anything because they usually split them up families dine outside while you smoke inside or vice versa. or the kids are just walkinig down the street and doesnt even matter. and the waitress very attentive. I feel the waitors are good at there job just theres not enough to successfully accomplish what they want to achieve on...
