This place needs a lot of improvement, I was invited by a friend to dine there because it's their favorite place to eat. They just arrived from Japan and are staying in Oceanside. When we were seated at the table, the waitress did not offer water, nor was there any silverware at the table. Someone else came to take our drink order, again did not offer water and did not notice the silverware that was missing. Most places that's the first thing situwait the customers, place the silverware, napkins, and bring or offer water. When the drinks were brought to the table we asked for water and what we got was a wise crack from the waitress saying ( "I brought you your soda and the tea that ordered and you still want waster!") In a very sarcastic manner. The food took a very long time to bring, my buddy order a cheese dip that took over 30 minutes to bring, then when asked for more chips because all of our orders had not been bought out a waiter came with more chips, placed them on the table took the old chip baskets and emptied the remaining chips over our fresh chips. Finally the food came and that was very upsetting too, it looked as if the food had been sitting under headlamps or maybe just left out too long before serving. I ordered chilaquiles which is a sensitive dish because the tortilla chip get sawggy really fast. I also ordered some carne asada with my order what I was given was meat that was chopped up and was very dry like beef jerky. I am Mexican I have never said this before and this is my first review I have given but I am ashamed of this place serving and destroying the food that I was raised on and ever worst giving people a really bad first impression. I could not tell my friend how horrible this place is, but I am going tell him. Sorry for the long post but even my words is not enough words to describe how bad this place...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Marietta's Mexican restaurant in Oceanside, CA, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. This gem offers a true taste of authentic Mexican cuisine, blending traditional flavors with a warm and inviting atmosphere.

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with friendly smiles and a cozy ambiance that made us feel right at home. The decor is charming, with vibrant colors and beautiful artwork that adds to the restaurant's welcoming vibe.

The menu at Marietta's is a treasure trove of classic Mexican dishes, and every item we tried was a delight. The enchiladas were perfectly seasoned, bursting with rich flavors, and generously filled. The tacos, with their tender meat and fresh toppings, were simply divine. One standout was the house-made salsa, which was so fresh and flavorful that we couldn't stop dipping our chips into it.

The service was exceptional, with attentive and knowledgeable staff who made great recommendations and ensured that our dining experience was top-notch. We also appreciated the restaurant's commitment to using fresh, high-quality ingredients, which was evident in every bite.

Marietta's Mexican restaurant is not just a place to eat; it's a culinary journey that transports you straight to the heart of Mexico. Whether you're a local or just passing through Oceanside, this restaurant is a must-visit. We left with full stomachs and big smiles, already planning our next visit....

Very disappointed. This place used to be much better. I hadn't been here in a long time so I was excited to finally come back, but the food was not that good, not like I remember. Carne asada chimichanga was so dry, and some of the meat seemed overcooked. Couldn't even cut all the way through the tortilla. Just meat wrapped in tortilla, very plain. Lacking flavor too, needed some kind of seasoning, and pico de gallo or something. Actually we poured salsa all over it lol. Rice and beans were a little dry as well. Salsa was decent but chips could have used a little salt. The iced tea was good though. One meal was almost $20, which is pretty expensive for this place alone. And for the quality of food we got, definitely way too expensive! Maybe if we had ordered something else, it would have been different, but since my friend and I ordered the same thing, we can only base our experience on that.(Carne asada chimichanga.) Our server was very good though. He was helpful, courteous,...

I do not normally write food reviews, however this has got to be the worst restaurant I’ve ever eaten at, and I do not say that lightly. The food came out super quick, and after tasting it I can see why. My corn was bland, as if seasoning had just been omitted from the entire dish. I had crab burritos and it was extremely fishy, as if the meat was old. My sour cream on top tasted old as well. My wife had beef tacos, and as she bit into the beef water began to drip out of the taco. Her enchilada sauce was similar to spaghetti sauce, but even spaghetti sauce has more flavor. There was again no seasoning or spice. We had ordered a side of queso, and I’m almost certain it came from a Tostitos jar. It was not the consistency of real cheese and was definitely artificial. I’ve never in my life not attempted to get a few bites in, even if I didn’t like it, but I took one bite of everything and let them take the whole plate back. “Boxes?” The waiter asked us. No, no I will not be needing a box.

I really have enjoyed this place in the past when I came, but when I came in around 12pm July 6 I was looking forward to the menudo and when I received it as I’m eating it there was still pork hair on the menudo so it wasn’t properly cleaned and Marietas is my go to for menudo because they do typically clean their meat properly and if you zoom in on the photo you can see the hair I pulled out and the piece on the side of the bowl is where it was and it still had hair. Then it got worse…I found a CATERPILLAR in my food! And to top it off the what I believe was the manager came to my table and insulted my intelligence by gaslighting me into trying to believe it was “grease from the meat” as he crumbled it right in my face…you can CLEARLY see it was a caterpillar. I’m more disappointed in his dishonesty and insult when I saw with my eyes the mouth and legs of the caterpillar.

This small restaurant is a big favorite in my book. The inside decor is festive if somewhat cheesy, but sit down and order a margarita before passing any judgement. One bite and you'll know this hidden gem is well worth the money. Often you can judge a Mexican restaurant by the chips and salsa provided before the meal has even started, and from the get go Marieta's is crushing it. The wait staff is as good as the food. I will always come here when I need some Mexican comfort foods.
