The Crimson Cake — Restaurant in Oceanside

Best cupcakes ever! I walked in to buy a single cupcake and learned that they were only available in miniature (dozen) and full size (half dozen) in pre-selected favors. There may be other quantities and configurations too, but I don't think they are ever sold as singles.

I took one look at them through the clear window on the box and was instantly impressed by their beautiful decorations for each type: blueberries, large round sprinkles for vanilla, freeze dried strawberries with gold leaf, and chocolate curls with a candy flower. The price was beyond reasonable and I decided then and there to take those babies home so I could eat them over the next few days.

The blueberry is amazing and to my great joy noticed on first bite that a type of Italian(?) Buttercream is used for the frosting. It is light in flavor and texture and the first time I ever tried it was on my custom wedding cake many years ago. A lot of bake shops don't use this type, unfortunately. The Chocolate had a surprise of light mousse and was equally amazing. The Vanilla also has a type of Vanilla Bean center - more like a custard. Each mini lasted two big bites.

Will definitely return for my cupcake needs. I could only imagine how these would be for catering/parties or as full sized cakes.

Nothing matches the taste, texture, flavor, and design of the cakes at The Crimson Cake! And quite frankly, they have the best baked goods in all of North County! I’ve been coming into this hidden gem of a place to pickup cookies, cupcakes and other goodies for various occasions, and everyone who tastes the goods raves about how delicious and delightful the creations are. Alicia & her team are fantastic! I can see how much hard work is put into every single item. I know it takes a lot to do what they do here and the energy, drive, dedication and everything is placed into this local baked goods business and it really shows. I truly can’t stress enough how much talent and care is packed into every one of their confectionery creations. 2nd cake from them, just didn't like either all that much. Husband just ordered for my Birthday, a Marble cake, specifically with butter cream frosting. I prefer traditional swirled white/chocolate marble cake, their's is vanilla cake (yellow cake) with ganache and whipped cream. How is that marble cake? Definitely not what was ordered. The outer icing tastes like sweetened lard, not butter, not real whipping cream. It sits on your tongue like grease. The ganache taste like chocolate frosting as well, very sweet and a bit gritty. I hate chocolate frosting.They didn't bake the cake as he ordered. They took their standard version of Marble cake, with chocolate ganache and whipped cream, and placed a Happy Birthday sign on it. If they weren't going to make the cake as ordered, they should have indicated that fact, rather than charge $40 for something else. Neither one of us could finish a thin slice of cake (with Milk).
