I was passing by the area and realized that Oceanside now has a new café open. Urbane Café is now opened (as of December 2023) and they have replaced Starbucks on Vista Way & Jefferson Ave (near the 78).
Urbane Café is a fast-food establishment with healthier options. They can be found in many other cities and they are known for their sandwiches, soups, salads and food bowls.
At this location, Urbane Café has a little outside patio seating, a few tables for inside seating and they seem to specialize in food orders TO-GO. They can online orders as well and their PICK-UP service allows for customers to simply walk-in, pick-up their food and leave, all without having to engage with anyone.
The interior is small & quite cramped for crowds, but is great for a few people seating. Their decor is modern & simple and their wall menu has detailed photos to help you choose your meal.
Their customer service is impeccable and everyone was greeted at the door and they were patient with my inquiries. A++
Urbane Café also was having a "Teachers Appreciation" Special for a FREE MEAL and I like that they even have a promotion like this.
Once ordered, my food came to me in under 12 minutes and I like that they have a drink fountain with a nice variety of flavors, including "Shirley Temple" 😊
I ordered an Ahi Salad with the Japanese dressing and it was amazing! It was fresh, tasty and the portion was gigantic for me. It was under $14 too. I also got a sample of the Baja Enchilada soup and it was delicious; as was their cookies.
I also love that their menu was easily suited for meat-eaters, vegetarians and vegans and there was even a gluten-free option for dietary restrictions.
The ONLY ding I could give them is that they are a "café" and don't have coffee on their menu 😜 They currently open at 10:00AM, but I can see them doing okay if they opened earlier.
Overall, I really like this addition to the Oceanside dining scene; especially for this area and I'll be returning to Urbane Café...
Read moreI have been ordering from this restaurant for a couple of months. The same item, made the same way each time. The app which is used, does not have option to add special details nor request gluten free option. So each time I order I call and make request for the gluten free bread as I have serious reaction / hospitalization if eaten. Today I ordered, made the call and asked 'gluten free bread, please'. Am told 'no problem, have a great day'. When I recieved the order a note is left saying "we did not put gluten free bread with this order, in order to have a gluten free option, choose it on the web site as it is an extra charge." I called back, spoke with the same lady whom identified herself as the manager this time..shes now saying I didn't place the order correctly. That I am to use an option on the app. After she saw that there is no place to put in specific requests online, said 'oh'! The only option is to call. Which I did. I called, and wasn't told to pay more. I was told no problem! Now I have no food and payed close to 40$ for a sandwich that if I did eat it would be hospitalized. Thank you Taylor, not the manager, in fact lied, she is a shift leader. The manager is really kool btw, thank you! Please train your staff to be consious of their words, decisions and actions , rather than bi polar actions& lies. It affects an entire system. I called the delivery service to get a refund and have the order remaid. And was told since it's an order I usually reciece correct. Or cancel before delivery, if its incorrect, they will have to review it. Thanks again Taylor, may you learn how to speak and act in integrity, when you represent a company. I paid almost 40$ and have a drink from it that I can inest. the rest is inedible...
Read moreI mean the food is great at all urbane cafes, but I felt like I was being singled out when I ordered my food for there and they gave me a tied up to go bag where everyone else received silverware and actual plates and I got a paper tray and a plastic fork… I can’t tell if it was a simple mistake, or if it was because I was eating alone? Brown? LGBT? Either way no one else around me had a similar issue, so it makes me think it was one of those, but it’d be best if it wasn’t left up to my interpretation. Also wasn’t asked what side I wanted with my order at the time of order, and had to go back and ask for it changed, which they did grant, but I’d ideally like to avoid that situation. The San Marcos location has kiosks, this place seems like it’d benefit from those. Honestly, due to feeling singled out, I don’t think I’d return to...
