Art Cafe — Attraction in Carlsbad

So my friend and I came to this cafe about 2 weeks ago to celebrate both of our birthdays. Basically the workers are lost and don't explain anything well and just mumble, so my friend and I both ended having to get our ceramics fired so I paid $10 extra because they didn't clarify. P.s. the paint behind the counter is the one you're supposed to use if you don't wany it fired. So I paid and then we left they said it would be ready the next weekend so I called a week later and they said oh no it's on Wednesday. I get the message saying oh well one of the 2 ceramics needed more time so pick it up next week. Then I get a message from my friend after we picked hers up (it was mine that has to be picked up later) and she tells me the stuff is chipping because they left it in for too long or something. I'm not an expert on this stuff but if im paying almost $100 on two measly things I expect it to be decent quality and for the workers to actually know what they're doing. Complete rip off and I'm pretty sure it's a scam considering they basically forced us to pay $10 more to get the ceramics fired cause they didn't even mention the paints behind them when we asked about it. This place is so much fun. We did a paint night and also painted ceramics as gifts for family. The paint night instructor was really good. She helped us through the concept and we each had a master piece at the end of the night. Also, the Art Cafe served wine and authentic Brazilian bites for us as we painted.

I would recommend the Art Cafe for families with kids. Come in and spend an unplugged afternoon like we did.

I liked this place with their previous owner! She was very nice and friendly woman. We celebrated my daughter’s birthday there two years ago and was thinking to do it again until incident that happened yesterday! My son who is five year old, accidentally broke the little ceramic butterfly, it was on the edge of the shelf which you easily can knock off. They made us pay $35 for this accident.
