Odessa Creamery — Restaurant in Odessa

Very torn feelings about this place. First, I ordered Mississippi mud and my husband ordered mint chocolate chip. The ice cream itself was delicious. Rich, creamy, not icey. The shop is cute, lots of flavor options and I think they make their own waffle cones. The serving size however, is VERY inconsistent. I ordered a single scoop, my husband ordered a double. You can see the difference in the photo. In fact, we immediately gave my husband's cone back to the employee because he gave two VERY small scoops... Only then did he put a third small scoop on top. Side by side, the cones were no where near similar, and I got more ice cream in a single scoop than my husband's double scoop! Did he use a kiddie scoop instead of a regular? Perhaps, but one look at my cone and the employee should have immediately started over. Such a shame; the place has amazing reviews and we were driving through the area based on those...

We live on the east coast, making it a challenge to drop in and speak to employees to arrange a meaningful celebration of life for our mom. However, I tried many times to contact a manager or owner of this establishment, through phone, social media, and emails, to ensure we were able to bring a group of people to celebrate our mother’s life. After no response for a couple of months, a family member who lives nearby was able to speak to the owner. She was informed he did not want our group in the establishment until 5pm, and did not want us interacting with his other customers. Though this was not the welcoming response we’d hoped for, we believed this would’ve been a lovely way to celebrate our mom, a granddaughter of the original owners of the Odessa Ice Cream Factory. Wow! Just wow. The service at the Odessa Creamery was impeccable!!! We were a party of 4 with a toddler and a dog. We were passing through and decided to stop in since we were hungry. It was a beautiful night, so I stayed outside on a comfy bench with the toddler and pup while the rest went inside to order. The food was ready so fast!!! We had burgers and hot dogs with French fries and it was all delicious! Our server immediately brought out a little cup of water for our pup - so thoughtful! And he was so attentive to our needs and checked on us - outside! - several times. We, of course, topped off our meal with ice cream! We will make this a regular stop from now on for our many trips back and forth to KC....
