This place is unreal. The person who said that this is the Twilight Zone of pizza joints stated it perfectly. When we first pulled up, we knew that we were in for a real unique adventure because of its size and decor. It looks like it hasn’t been renovated since it’s establishment in 1971, but that adds to its charm and appeal. The restaurant is ran by a sweet man named Sam. He heartily greets you when you walk in and takes your order by memory. We waited in the restaurant while the pizza was cooking, questioning whether or not our pizza had been actually ordered while being entertained by his presence and jokes. He gave us an anticipated wait time of 49 minutes. Huh? Anyway, it was done much sooner than that. While we were there, several people called or came in to “order” or pick up a pizza, all memorized by Sam without a pen, paper, or computer. A three topping large pizza only costed us $12, and it was exactly what we ordered. Considering the pizza was made by a single older guy, it was good. We give the experience a 5 and the pizza a 3....
Read moreWe decided to try Sam's Pizza because of the rave reviews by locals. It was an experience to remember.
We tried calling. No matter how long we sat on the phone, or when we tried, there was no answer. Even as we drove to the restaurant, we tried the phone to no avail.
On site, it's the tiniest pizza place I've ever seen. Inside is Sam. The phone is ringing, but he can't hear it, cause Sam is making pizzas and loving every second of it. We try to tell him our order. He can't understand us, cause he's thinking about pizzas. Every few moments, he sings to himself a little ditty. "Bop bop baah." For you see, Sam is in pizza heaven.
Ultimately, we gave up. We could have had a simple sausage pizza, but with my food allergies, ordering a pizza I could eat was likely impossible. But we didn't walk away disappointed, because we watched someone doing what they love without a care in the world.
And that was our Sam's Pizza experience. We didn't feed our bellies, but our souls were nourished. Next time we'll bring a...
Read moreSimple little place that serves pizza. Husband and I were sick of the chains and other locals always take about Sam's. Decided to try it last night and WOW! We called in for takeout for a large with sausage and mushrooms and it was AMAZING. We waited until we got home to dig in and just by the smell alone we knew it would be delicious! The crust is not a cracker crust and not the thick and doughy kind but somewhere it between. The sauce was sooooo flavorful. Not sure what he puts in it but it packs a punch! Cheese was perfectly melted and I loved the sausage he used. 10/10 Would recommend! One large was enough for the both of us and we're usually big eaters. It was cheap too! Not sure if he takes cards. We just paid with cash. Was only like 10 bucks and the hubby left him a tip too. We...
