George's Family Restaurant serves up a breakfast that's worth waking up early for! With a menu that'll make any morning brighter, here's the lowdown on a few of their standout dishes. First, the buttermilk pancakes are what fluffy dreams are made of. Light, airy, with just a hint of sweetness, they're the kind of classic that you'll compare all other pancakes to. They've got that homemade taste down, pat - like something your grandma might whip up on a Sunday morning. Then there's the meat scramble smothered in sausage gravy. It's hearty, it's savory, and it's everything you want in a breakfast when you're really hungry. The sausage gravy is rich and flavorful, without being too heavy, and it complements the well-seasoned scramble perfectly. And let's talk about the Greek Omelette with a side of Tzatziki and home fries. It's a Mediterranean twist to the morning meal that's absolutely refreshing. The omelette is packed with fresh flavors, and the Tzatziki adds a cool, creamy contrast that'll have you dipping into it with every forkful. The home fries are crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and seasoned just right. George's Family Restaurant hits all the right notes for a satisfying breakfast. It's a spot that feels like home, with food that's clearly made with care. So, if you're in Dayton and looking for a spot to have a great start to your day, you can't go wrong here. Ratings: - Buttermilk Pancakes: 10/10, a stack of perfection. - Meat Scramble with Gravy: 9/10, comfort food at its best. - Greek Omelette: 9/10, fresh and flavorful with a side of spot-on home fries.

We recently visited this family-style restaurant, and we instantly felt right at home. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, exactly what you'd hope for in a comforting, home-cooked meal experience I ordered the country fried steak and eggs, which arrived hot, flavorful, and perfectly crispy. It paired wonderfully with delicious home fried potatoes and fluffy, buttery biscuits—truly the perfect hearty breakfast We also enjoyed the Belgian waffle topped generously with fresh strawberries and whipped cream. It was an absolute delight, tasting just like the funnel cakes you get at the fair—crispy, sweet, and utterly delicious. The side order of biscuits and gravy was equally impressive, rich and satisfying, rounding off our meal beautifully Special thanks to Sherri at the front door, who warmly greeted every guest with a smile, making us feel like family from the moment we stepped through the door. She puts the "F" in Family! We'll definitely be returning again!

Definitely a down home mom and pop place I'm glad I came out to support . It was busy when I pulled up and that's always a good sign. I walked in sat down and got my drink right away , and the waitress Jamie was super friendly and super helpful on my custom order. Please be patient with servers , this place stays on and popping 💪💪💪. I got the broaster breakfast, two breaded pork chops with 4 scrambled eggs with cheese, substituted the fries for grits , and added some of that amazingly charred sausage to the order , also modified my toast to garlic toast. This place is awesome and any time I'm trucking and in the area again I will be back to show my love and support !!!!! Keep up the great work y'all , you can feel the love and passion in all that you do here!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

Last weekend I had dinner at Georges Family Restaurant. I absolutely loved my meal broster wings and seasoned wedges(which I had for the first time). Omgoodness my meal was AMAZING!!! I was a happy customer at #georgesfamilyrestuarant I literally ordered from there 1-2 times a week for 4-5 years. That was my spot❤️! The staff was always friendly I absolutely felt appreciated every time I ate there and when I would order takeout.

Today, I was heartbroken and disappointed. I ordered takeout dinner for 2- 2 broster chicken meals with the wedges I fell in love with. I had been waiting a week for this deliciousness there was an upcharge for the wedges but that was ok we loved them.

I got home, opened the box and I see wedges that were Burnt...I tried 1 it tasted Burnt as well. The other meal had wedges that were Burnt as well. I called #Georgesfamilyrestuarant and Omgoodness. I spoke to the "manager" explained the issue and she responded by telling me my wedges ARE NOT Burnt, they're cooked dark. I explained I ate one and it tasted Burnt. She goes on to tell me they WERE NOT BURNT because if they were they would not be edible. I then explained I had these wedges last week and they were delicious. I was ABSOLUTELY SHOCKED! I couldn't believe I was Essentially being called a liar over and over. She then said I would have to bring back the food because they don't do refunds. We never asked for a refund I just wanted a delicious dinner that didn't taste burned. As she kept going on and on the other person (on speaker) said "we just won't be back" and I ended the call.

Wow. I really loved #Georgesfamilyrestuarant

Update-June 2025 After a year, I decided to go back to George's. It was great. Then it wasnt. I went in on All you can eat fish Friday. I sit at my table and im sitting there and sitting there..No one gave me a menu. When the waitress finally came I requested fresh hot fish, explained the last few times I was served luke warm fish(who likes cool fried fish). My plate arrives and my fish was GREAT! My side, the fries were warm and wet, yes wet. Whatever, the fish is what I wanted. Im sitting enjoying my fish and a woman(maybe in her 40s) is staring at me comes over and asked how was my meal. I told her GREATish. She asked what was wrong I let her know my disappointment with the fries. I said I've been coming here a long time but recently my order hasn't been right. I said I don't know what's going on here but I hope you guys can get it together. She goes OFF ON ME! She explained no changes need to be made, my experience want IS wrong, and I was the problem, she forcefully told me she'll give fresh fries, I said no I don't want fries..She proceeds to keep flapping her fn gums.. I turned and faced the windows. She asked if there is anything she can do and I said yes get out of my face. I couldn't believe it! This again! At this point, I thanked my waitress, and paid for my meal. This is TWICE I've been disrespected there. I came back after the first time because I loved the food and atmosphere so much but now I can confidently say I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE TO EAT. NEVER!

So sad.

Oh, my waitress(bless her heart) came over with a plate of fries I said i didnt want.Which confirmed my point of getting them getting ...

This review is long overdue. I don't know what has happened to what was once our favorite little weekly diner, but it's been bad for about a year (Maybe longer as we did not eat out during the pandemic). Every time we have eaten there or picked up carry out, there's been an issue.

Maybe it's the new ownership? Idk but every time we go it's one problem or another...the food is severely overcooked (burnt), they're out of salad (sorry it can no longer be blamed on supply chain🙄), they all together just forget to put in your order, the "all you can eat fish" ends up being "all you get" because you're never offered more than the 2 pieces that comes on your plate, the wait staff standing around doing nothing or they're bitching about mgmt behind the booths where you CAN hear them, or you're put in a booth and totally forgotten about. I'm sure I'm forgetting more issues.

We've given more it than enough chances--about twice a month but that was cut back from once a week. To be fair, there have been times we thought things were improving, but our next visit was always the same-- very disappointing.

Finally, I'm sorry to inform them, but after last night, we will no longer be George's customers at all. After eating there, by the time we got home (within about an hour) we were both racing to the toilet where we spent the next 2 hours. We felt bad all night. If other customers experienced this, the Health Dept should probably investigate. There are Many elderly customers who might not fare as well as we did though.

I leave this honest review not to be mean but to alert the owners of serious problems that need to be fixed before someone gets seriously ill. We used to really enjoy eating there but needless to say, that is no longer the case.

Owners, Please FIX George's Diner so we can come back. If you don't know how, please sell the business to someone who does. Thank you.

RESPONSE TO OWNERS RESPONSE: "don't come back"...Well, I guess that's one way to respond to customers who have continued to come back for far too long despite all of the problems and only want to see you succeed. It explains why you're FAILING!

We have NEVER asked for ANYTHING for FREE... not even your unsold leftovers on your free dessert night! Didn't even use the 10% off coupon that you gave us the last time for your FAILURES! WE DO NOT NEED FREE FOOD. We're more than capable of paying your ridiculous prices for what you provide.

We have supported George's for FAR too long. It's YOU who has ruined it but YOU apparently are blind to the problems and refuse to take responsibility before someone gets seriously ill! IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN and then what are you going to do? GET SOME HELP WITH IT! IT'S NO LONGER "DAYTONS BEST" ANYTHING! THAT TITLE CAN BE BOUGHT AND PAID FOR!

You don't want us there, DONE! Ialready told you we weren't coming back. We would have taken down this review had you simply agreed to look into and fix the problems. Again, BAD MANAGEMENT, BAD RESPONSE, BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!

BTW, there's MOLD in the cracks of your booths too....

My husband and I arrived at about 9:30 AM. We ordered by 9:40. Our food didn't arrive at our table until approximately 10:20. In that time, we watched two other tables get seated, order, and get their food. I'm sure there were likely more but I saw two.

My omelette and sausage patties were mostly warm but not hot. The sausage was good but the omelette was pretty bland. My biscuit didn't come out until I was half done eating my omelette and it wasn't at all warm. My husband's country fried steak and sausage gravy was hot and tasted okay. Although for being sausage gravy, there wasn't much sausage or pepper in the gravy. His eggs, potatoes, and toast were down right cold, as if they hadn't even been under a heat lamp.

Our server rushed by once to say our food should be up soon but didn't stop to apologize or ask if there was anything she could do. We were all prepared to ask for our check (for just the coffee) when our food finally showed up. Then when the quality was so sub par, we were prepared to leave a bad review and never look back. I'm still leaving the bad review because I believe in honesty and accountability.

The only reason we are considering ever going back was due to the manager's response (I didn't get her name.) She apologized for the entire situation and waved our entire bill. She genuinely seemed mortified by the situation with the kitchen. I think she was a FOH manager and can't directly do anything about the kitchen but I certainly hope the restaurant manager listens to her because that kitchen did not seem in a good place.

This place will have exactly one chance to get it right. We'll go back eventually but every item better be seasoned and hot. The order better be served in a timely manner, complete,...
