Mayberry Diner — Restaurant in Ohio

Food was plentiful and reasonably priced. Overall, it was standard diner fare. There were a lot of choices for soups and pies. The waitress seemed overwhelmed and snapped at us a couple times which was a bit upsetting because until that point we were having a good time.

The first time came after she asked if we wanted dessert. We said maybe and to give us a minute. She came back a few minutes later with the bill. We said that we had decided to have some pie. She sharply retorted "Well, it's gonna be a bit, can't you see what's going on?! I am the only waitress!"

That stunned me because I had not expected immediate service. I saw that the diner was filling, but had thought that the other girl who was bringing stuff out was working as well. Regardless, a quick "ok, sounds good. I will be back with you in a minute." Would have been great.

When she came back, we asked what kind of pie they had. Instead of just telling us, she said sharply "It's on the board over there" and pointed. I replied, "yes, but we cannot read it, could you please just tell us?" It could be older eyes, but I don't wear glasses and had an eye exam done about a year ago. The pink chalk was hard to read on the chalkboard across the way. Again, it was a simple question that was met with rudeness, more in the tone than in the actual words.

It was clear she was irritated.

So, I would have given 4 stars based on food expectations, but deducted one for the service. The pie was good, but I am not a fan of the course sugar used on the top, but that is a personal preference. I would not order again. The fruit and crust were otherwise delicious. overall, the food was okay, nothing special. The space and decor were comfortable, but based on the friendliness of service, it was not a place that I could recommend. Hopefully, this is a one...

We were also rudely greeted by a waitress with short blonde hair. My daughter asked for orange juice and I warned her about no refills and before I could order something else the waitress stormed off. She came back with the rest of our drinks and I politely asked for a bowl of flavored creamer after plain cream that we never asked for was thrown down. She gave me a one flavor option and then threw 3 creamers at me.She took my daughter's drink order and not our food order. Finally the drink was brought and the food order was taken.
