I am currently facilitating a Habitat build in Newark and have little knowledge about the surrounding area. I was in desperate need of a place to work with wifi and, although the library is wonderful, it's not open early enough for me. So, I thought Starbucks! They are on every corner. Well, my GPS only pointed to one's that seemed to be in other buildings.
As I left the Kroger Starbucks flustered I spotted River Road Coffee. What a dream! What a treat! The employee who greeted me was so friendly and bubbly and her energy melted away all my anxiety in regards to finding a workspace. She handed me a card for the wifi and explained the tea selection as I looked puzzled. I'd go for a Cosmopolitan sweetened with blackberry. The entire staff there is top-notch. I used to work in Customer Service so when the entire team seems genuine and happy, it's a skill you cannot teach.
After leaving this retreat I headed back to the build site to chat with the team and remembered she mentioned one in Downtown Newark. This is where I am currently leaving this review. To no one's surprise Micenzie B. is the hanging there as the Employee of the Quarter. Only speaking with her for a short while I knew she deserved it. Energy like hers are few in this world. Keep being amazing and when I wall always work from a River Road because of you ladies!
p.s very sorry if I spelled your name...
Read moreVery, very disappointed! About 2-3 times per year or so I will stop and buy a chicken salad sandwich on a croissant as it was delicious. A fresh croissant with a really good chicken salad that was made with chunked chicken, red onions, slivered almonds, and celery. I just went through the drive through on 21st and bought one, but it was awful!!! The croissant was toasted (panini-style), the chicken is ground up like a mash, if there were almonds- I didn't taste any, though there were some very small pieces of celery and onion. The taste was awful!!!! The texture was awful!!! And, 1/4 of my sandwich had NO meat on it! I had to spread out the very small amount that there was (half or less of what you used to get). It was the absolute worst chicken salad sandwich I have ever had in my life. If this is your 'new' sandwich, I will never be back (I do not drink coffee). I am extremely disappointed as I was truly looking forward to a great sandwich, but I got something that tasted like Underwood canned meat (texture...
Read moreI like to call the River Road drive thru lines the purgatory lines. Because you’re stuck in it forever. Take today for example. There was a mine, there’s always a line. But it wasn’t as bad as some days. I checked the time. I had 30minutes before I needed to be at John Clem across the street. 30 minutes. Ok I have time to wait in line. I WAS LATE getting to Clem. Again, across the street. 30+mins in a line with 5 cars ahead of me. And there’s no getting out of line. Once you’re in, you’re committed. How is this kind of line deemed ok? I’ve gone inside and I’ve witnessed why it takes so long. The workers are casually walking around and making drinks. While I value a well made drink, you have a line. It’s time to partake in the product you’re making and speed up your service. We pass the shop many times through the week and decide to not get it when we see there’s a line. Imagine all the people who do the same. Purgatory. 30minutes in a line of 5 cars...
