This place has gone way downhill. We ate here about 4 years ago and received great food and service. We moved away so hadn't been back in awhile so we were excited to come back now that we've moved back arpund here. Came here tonight and although we initially were understanding of the subpar service because we could tell they were short staffed we eventually grew tired of being treated like they didn't even want our business. I guess they don't offer to get highchairs for customers with small kids as we had to ask our waitress for one and then she told my husband where to get one (we watched another couple get their own after we got ours as well, so no biggie). The waitress took our order for drinks then didn't come back for awhile after quickly delivering our drinks (with not even enough time for us to ask for an appetizers). We watched her go to other tables who came in several minutes AFTER we came in, take their orders, deliver them food all BEFORE she even came back to take our order for an appetizer. We were the ONLY table that had any people of color at it(besides my husband who is Caucasian)so after seeing the third table get served their food when all we had was water it became difficult to not feel like we were being discriminated against because of our color. A few minutes after the last table was served the waitress comes to take our order. It took a long time to for our food to come out (my 1 year old had finished her dinner that we packed but my 7 year old was growing hungry and understandably impatient). The waitress never came back to let us know when our food would be out. We just sat there and watched other customers get served more food. When the appetizer finay came out it was lukewarm at best and she walked away without giving us any plates or silverware (it was not finger food). We had to ask another waitress to get some for us. The other waitress went and told her to give us plates and silverware and when she came back with it she also brought out our dinner. So we now had to eat our appetizer and dinner together (mine and my husband's dinner was lukewarm as well). No apologies from the waitress for any of the food being late. Then I notice my sandwich didn't come with the spicy mayo that was supposed to be on it. I wait for the waitress to come back and ask for mayo. She apologizes and brings out the mayo but walks away before I noticed she brought out plain miracle whip. At this point it seems like she's just providing poor service because she doesn't believe we deserve any better. I asked for the spicy mayo and she blames it on the cooks giving her the wrong mayo (pretty sure the cooks were too busy to get her mayo, so SHE got the wrong stuff, but whatever). By the time the right mayo came out I just asked for boxes and the check. The other waitress collects the card and brings the bill back to my husband (by this time they seem to be completely ignoring me. I again tried not to take offense because I figured it was due to me being visibly annoyed, but still wondered if it was discrimination since I was the only customer being treated this way). I was so happy to leave there. This was my very first time ever...
Read moreThe Rusty Keg Tavern, a place where even the kegs have more character than I do on a Monday morning! I ventured into this cozy establishment and let me tell you, it's like a time machine to a more rustic era, or perhaps a parallel universe where kegs are the most entertaining patrons.
First off, the ambiance was so charmingly vintage that I half-expected to see a hipster fly in on a penny-farthing bicycle. The rusted decor gave it that "shabby-chic, if you squint" look, and I was half-tempted to ask if their WiFi was powered by steam.
The food? Well, let's just say the chef clearly has a Ph.D. in "Deep Fried Deliciousness." I'm convinced they've mastered the art of making anything taste good with a little oil and a prayer. The menu had more comfort food than a mother's hug, and I'm pretty sure I heard my cholesterol levels sobbing in the background.
The service was friendly enough that I felt like I was catching up with an old friend who happens to be an expert in draft beer recommendations. If only all friendships could be based on such sage advice.
So, if you find yourself at the Rusty Keg Tavern, embrace the quirkiness, indulge in the deep-fried wonders, and raise a glass to a place where even the kegs have stories to tell. Just remember, leave your monocle and top hat at home – the kegs might get jealous of your...
Read moreThey really need to allow reservations and make it that one party shows up about 10 minutes early and that way if someone of party don't show 10 minutes early then they release the reservation and not put tables together so that way they don't get stood up and parties don't have 30-45 minute wait. As far as food I had chicken bacon ranch sub and it was great with plenty of meat and cheese and bun wasn't dry or hard. The 12 cheese sticks was awesome and not over fried. The Fry's was different but great and could of had a little more of the spice they sprinkle on them. ( readers not worry spice isn't hot or warm. It's more of a flavoring which myself I really liked just wished it had little more on Fry's) sweet tea was good the food I had was 5 star so 4 star was for the long wait not allowing reservations to be made when we...
