So I'm just moving to Washington Court House from Westerville, and honestly, I'm extremely upset at the total lack of non-fast food places to eat. This is one of two (2) places in the entire town where I can sit down and eat a non-fast food meal, and there are plenty of healthy choices and even a salad bar!!
Now let me explain:
Are there more than 2 places in WCH that are probably worth eating at and might be super amazing? Sure!!! But this is one of the two for me. I have Celiac Disease, which means gluten harms my intestines very badly, in addition to giving me skin lesions. I can't go to a coffee shop and get pastries, I can't go to a cafe and grab a sandwich or a soup that has noodles or dumplings or creamy broth thickened with flour, and most of the Chinese food has soy sauce which contains wheat gluten and ends up horribly upsetting my stomach.
But Street Side 62 has been an oasis in what I am coming to recognize as what, for me personally, is a food desert (compared to what I am used to). They have gluten free pizza, gluten free burger buns, and plenty of entrees and such that don't innately contain gluten. And as I mentioned, they have a salad bar!!! I need to say that the pizza in particular is to DIE for. It is some of the best that I have ever had in my life. They have delicious drinks and creative cocktails as well, and fresh tasting lemonade that I just love.
I am so, so glad that I know this is one of the places I can go to eat out. Believe me, I wouldn't make such an issue out of it if I wasn't actually medically diagnosed with Celiac Disease. But I was diagnosed, and I'm moving here, and I don't have the dozen or so fail safe options for food around me that I'm used to. So this place is really kind of a life saver for me. I can get different meals every time I come in, and that's just really awesome. I have multiple options on the menu! And everything I have had here tastes SO GOOD.
So I really want to thank people here for making this a place that I can eat. It's hard to go out to eat with other people, knowing that they feel terrible that you can't eat much. So it is definitely something that can hurt you socially as well, and I think people who don't need to think about food allergies can forget that. Again, thank you. This place is SO good. I want to also add that the staff is super friendly and they do their very best to take care of your needs, even when the restaurant is super busy.
I'll add some photos when I go...
Read moreStreetside is a convenient location for my family to meet for an occasional weekend lunch get together, and we have come back several times because, for the most part, we like the food, but we have consistently had terrible service. Our first time here, we waited for almost an hour before someone even took our drink order. We eventually had to flag down a server, who then alerted the manager, who then finally brought us our drinks. We never received an apology of any kind for our wait, and it was then at least another 15-20 minutes before someone actually took our food order. We watched other tables come in, eat, and leave, all before we had even placed our order. The manager should have made sure we had a good experience after being alerted to our situation, but no effort was made whatsoever.
Hoping this first experience was just a fluke, we have come back a few more times because of the convenient location for my family. The service has never really improved. We consistently have had to remind our servers (we have had a different server each time) for drink refills and to remove finished plates and trash from our table. There was no checking up on our table to see if we needed anything. On our most recent visit (probably our last), my parents had to wait for their food (a pizza and a sandwich) for at least 15 minutes after the rest of the table had been served their food, with no explanation given.
My 2 star rating is only so high because the food was good (but nothing exceptional), and the overall atmosphere of the...
Read moreAte there for the very first time on Sunday evening, came down from Columbus. The atmosphere was great, we were on the patio, very comfortable, and had great wait staff. Food came out quickly and hot. Had the crab cake, which was not at all like what you find in most places. You could tell they were hand made and extremely tasty, and some deep fried mushrooms. (Oh, the hand cut french fries were great.) I love fried breaded mushrooms. These were different than most. They were hand breaded, in a corn meal type breading. Not too thick like most. You could actually taste the full flavor of the mushrooms, not just the breading. They were delicious. Two things I really like crab cakes and deep fried mushrooms, and these were far better than most I have had on the east coast. Not at all like I would have expected from a place in Washington Court House, OH. I also did not expect to find that every main element of the meal was hand made or hand prepared. That shows dedication to serving a great product. This was a first date situation, and we had a great time getting to know each other, and we both enjoyed the atmosphere and food. I used to own my on restaurant in Northern OH, and we did everything hand made, in the early 1980's. This was and unexpected great find in 2019 dining. EXCELLENT food and a great dining experience. Highly recommend...
