Everything you expect from some southern kitchen… it’s there. Believe me. I went there with my girlfriend that I’ve known for just about a year now. Time flies huh. I love her. Just like I loved the food. I heard about this place from my grandma a while back and never tried it till today. My options were a little limited because I’m pescatarian but that was quite alright with this establishment. So we (me and my girlfriend) walked in there, and just sat down. They eventually saw us and said they’ll take care of us in just a minute, which was no issue. We were just chilling, checking out the vibe and the walls. The walls had decorations similar to my grandmas house. It felt nice and homey. Nice vibe. I liked it. It appeared as though there was only one worker there, doing all the work. Which was pretty cool. Something’s took a lil longer but that just added to the vibe. Which I liked. She gave us a menu (attached below) and it was nice and concise. Me and my girlfriend respectively got shrimp entre with yellow rice and macaroni and cheese and fries and an Arnold Palmer, and the fish entre with yellow rice and Mac and cheese and fried okra and sweet tea. All was very good. Very tasty indeed. Can’t forget about the corn bread. The lady was very nice and actually despite being the only worker took our order and got our food out pretty quickly. The food tasted very fresh and hot. Very nice. Quite the portion of food as well. Didn’t have any room for dessert.. maybe next time.. there will Forsure be a next time because this is my girlfriends new favorite restaurant in Okeechobee. We spent about 40$ excluding tip. Pretty nice pricing for what we got. We’d rather go here than lightseys and lightseys gets closer to...
Read moreI came here the other day while I was with my boyfriend. As we came up we couldn’t see a sign, but as we got closer in the plaza we saw where the restaurant was. The outside looked really nice. I was welcomed by the owner as we went inside and seated ourselves. Our server was her son and he was very nice and took our order quick. I ordered the fried chicken and my boyfriend ordered the smothered pork chops, and I did like how they reminded us the chicken take a bit to cook, which is very understandable. Waiting for my food I ordered a sweet tea which was AMAZING 🤩! Best sweet tea I ever had, I couldn’t stop drinking it. As the food came out, everything was hot and freshly made. I love how they give you a big portion, the fried chicken was awesome, corn bread was off the chain, and the smothered pork chops was juicy and great! As I went to pay for my bill the owner was super nice, and I loved how she had her homemade cakes out because they looked soooo beautiful. Next time i come here I can’t wait to try some more of her food. This is really a hidden gem in okeechobee! Please come here and try this food you won’t...
Read moreAn out of the way locally owned and ran restaurant, I was surprised I hadn't heard of this place before. With a local competing restaurant nearby that I refuse to go to, I was hesitant in coming by. That went right out the door as I met the owner, and I only wish I could have ordered more, but what I did have was exemplary. I've been raised southern, and while I may not always act southern, my tastes are. I know good southern cooking when I see it and taste it, and there is no doubt in my mind that Mabel has things made in house, that I could expect to be served AT her house. Genuine southern cooking does her and her staff no justice, but rather, a Paragon of Southern Cooking I feel best conveys my feelings. Mabel was warm and welcoming, and I cannot wait for my return visit. And for the owner, I only wish the best for you and yours, you have all done a wonderful job of making me feel at home in your place of business. I'll be...
