Really terrible. Both in Port St Lucie, FL and the one we tried tonight in Okeechobee, FL. There were two vehicles in the driveway in back and one on the street. The place was empty. There was a Grand Opening banner out front. When we went inside, there was three of us, all adults; I asked about the Grand Opening and was told it was actually a Reopening from the previous Tin Fish because the owner and partner separated ways, there were a few renovations and the Grand Opening Reopening was actually a little more than a month ago, she said. Since I am from Port St. Lucie visiting a friend in Okeechobee, I didn't know what restaurants were good and our friend just moved there and had no clue but someone told her to take us there. Well, my friend asked for the Blue Cheese Lettuce Wedge Salad with grilled shrimp. I asked for the grilled Chicken, a side salad and ranch on the side, and mixed vegetables. My husband had the Chicken Tenders with double fries. He got awful tasting coleslaw with it. When he said it was terrible, we had a bite each, it was worse than terrible! We had a nice male waiter who took drink order, did fine, two waters and an ice tea. Then we got a young girl, Sweet girl, but obviously sick. I asked if she was alright. Her stomach was aching, she said. Her face verified it, she was in pain. We gave her our orders. When the food came, we had a lot of hard long pieces of spring mix salad greens with fruit and dried cranberries but the lettuce tasted old, not good. My chicken tasted like fish, I think they cooked it in fish grease. I wanted grilled well, but it was not grilled much and didn't taste good. Husband's chicken strips were flat and thin like breaded small fish filets, no chicken hardly at all. These were expensive dishes, folks. Nothing was below $10.00 a meal. But when they brought my friend's wedge salad with a slab of fish and grilled slightly shrimp we just stared at it. It wasn't a wedge. It was huge all green lettuce leaves, like the kind you put under fish to hold the grease, huge dark green leaves. But the fish was never requested and no matter what they say, that was NOT Romaine lettuce which you all know is a very light pale green in color like iceberg coloring. And it was not a wedge. We took it up to the Manager to tell her this and show her. Nope that pulled apart lettuce leaves were romaine and that is how they do their wedge. I said, there is no wedge at all, but she asked my friend what else she wanted, and after going through salads, settled on a plain house salad. During this time, I asked the young waitress why she was so sick, did she have a stomach virus, hoping she'd say no for fear our food would be affected, she said it was fast food she had earlier. Well, when the substitute salad came, my friend tried to eat all these stringy tough spring leaves, as I did with my salad. My husband kept staring at his flattened tiny dried up chicken tenders and we all looked at each other and said "enough". We stopped trying to eat this mess. We each had maybe two bite fulls. We stood up and my husband went to the counter and said we were leaving, and would try to find another restaurant, that we all took one or two bites and just could not eat that. She wanted to see for herself that we didn't eat it, went to the table and saw we didn't, and I told her the young girl was NOT at fault, and that she is mighty sick. That was when the female Manager told me the girl was new. I felt they should have let that Babe go home. I really felt for her. I have never seen a chicken tender look like a flattened small fish filet. They obviously was charging a lot of money for an item that warranted that kind of money BUT they scaled it down to sizes or changed ingredients ( like the outside lettuce leaves of another lettuce for a true lettuce wedge) but charged the standard $12-$15 for it. Also, having a waitress with stomach distress is NOT good, not only displaying the pain, poor child, BUT from a health standard! I truly hope she does NOT have a stomach virus!! We left,...
Read moreI never write reviews good or bad but this time I’m really upset. It’s a shame because before the COVID-19 time we came here all the time and ordered take, by far one of my favorite places to eat and the food was fantastic. Service has always been pretty decent as well. The restaurant has an awesome environment. However, when they first opened back up for dine in service we were really excited and happen to have had family visiting from out of town as well. We went there with 5 adults and one child after calling a head they said they had plenty of space. We show up and have to split up and divide tables outside due to the fact we didn’t have our masks on which is completely understandable because of the way they had the spacing which is fine as well. But they had 1 guy sitting at an4 top alone, a group of 3 at another 4 top and Another group of 3 at 4 top, leaving one 3 top available the the rest 2 tops. So I just asked why wouldn’t the 1 single guy be placed at the 2 top and at least one of the groups of 3 at the 3 tops which to me makes sense in case a group of 4 walk in or bigger group then you have to split up less. The single guy finished his meal and ordered another beer. I walked up the guy and kindle asked if he would mind sliding down to the 3 top and explained the situation. I even offered to buy the guys next beer. He declined the offer of the beer but was happy to help out and had no problem. Then there was a huge scene the hostess came over and said I can’t do that and got the manager. The manager or I think it was the manager came out with a louder voice almost yelling at little selling absolutely not. That is inappropriate and rude. And continues to yell some more . And in a sense it could have been rude but thinking the guy was done with his meal and just hanging out drinking a couple beers I would ask and like I said the guy had zero problem with it. And I also thought to myself and said I wouldn’t have an issue if a family asked me. I apologized to the one guy and thanked him for his help and walked across to the restaurant right across Tin Fish. As I’m sitting at the other restaurant out front I see the Chef Tin Fish come out and talking and waving his hands around to the 4 family members that decided to just wait until a 4 top was clear because they really wanted the cevieche I raved about. My father explores what I did and apologized and said we will just hang out until spot available and the chef said they were not welcome and would not be served here. They walked over and joined me no problem no issues at the other restaurant uncle als sorts cafe. Love the food at tin fish. Such a small thing became bigger than it should. Very bad hospitality. Sorry Tin Fish. Still...
Read moreWhat a surprising little gem, smack-dab in the middle of Florida! My mother and I stopped here on the way to the East coast of Florida for lunch. Upon walking in, I almost peed my pants. I was looking back at my mother as I opened the door...so the large fake gators on the floor scared the living bejeezus out of me when I turned my head around! So forewarning..there are lifelike gators right as you walk in.
The ambiance here is very casual, but I must say they have some amazing decor! It looks like they sourced decorations from multiple artists, providing an eclectic and rustic feeling for the restaurant.
The staff were all very nice during our stay. We were seated promptly upon arrival and our drinks arrived in a timely manner. My mother and I ordered the Parmesan & Garlic Wings to share. I also ordered the Crab Cake appetizer and a House Salad with vinaigrette dressing. The salad was dressed perfectly, and I appreciated that they used nice spring greens instead of romaine or iceberg. The crab cakes were good--I didn't realize that they were fried--still good though! What really won me over were the Parmesan & Garlic Wings. They were absolutely delicious and seasoned to perfection.
I don't frequent the middle of the state that often...but would definitely recommend...
