I must say, I absolutely LOVED this place and was going almost every weekend for their brunch. But I was extremely disappointed in the customer service given when I had family coming into town and we wanted a nice place to have a sit down. This was the week of my wedding and a month prior I had contacted Auora about possibly having a large party at about 30 people and received an email that the size of the party was okay. As it came closer to the date, I emailed them that some people didn't want to do brunch with us so we would only have about 20. At this point the manager asked that we change our time slot from 11am to 1:30pm so she could have room for customers that were coming in for brunch that day. I was okay with changing the time, I do understand that we were a big party and would be taking up a lot of the restaurant so I said okay. So originally I was told we would be seated inside due to changing our time (because they don't get as busy around 1:30) but came day of, the manager called me and expressed that the restaurant was busier than she anticipated and she would like to set us outside on the patio. I was VERY worried because half of my family had flew in from Hawaii and it was balls cold outside. She guaranteed that it was warm with heaters outside and the space was enclosed so I agreed. I regret that decision. Unfortunately, when we got there, we were NOT set up on the patio where the heater beam was, but instead set up out in the grass with only two corner table heaters. The waiter got one heater to work and the other they said they needed to grab propane. After about 40 minutes and my freezing family complaining to me, I went and asked the manager about the other heater...It turns out it was broken.... but they said they had to get propane multiple times when we kept asking? When were they gonna tell us it was broken? Finally we asked if we could move the tables to the patio to be placed under the heater beam which the tables there were completely empty at the time I asked. The manager responded "well we have to keep that section open for "potential" customers. I'm sorry the heater doesn't work but it kinda is what it is". So at this point I had made a reservation a month ago and they stuck us out in the cold refusing to move us because the actual space I thought we would have been seated was for "potential" customers. I'm sad to say that my family told us they liked the food but would never return or recommend due to the customer service and lack of effort to make them comfortable. What is REALLY sad is I loved this place. And because of how the reservation and situation was handled, I will not recommend or return back. I hope in the future they can figure out how to properly create solutions in situations like this and learn to speak to customers making them feel of importance and not an...
Read moreWe were HUGE fans of the original restaurant. We would dine for brunch 2-4 times a month. Upon re-opening, we excitedly dined for brunch the first day it reopened. It was only okay and was missing a lot key components from the original restaurant. We almost always give poor openings a second chance, so we planned to be back at some point but were not sure when. We finally returned recently with extended family, and it continues to be just okay. While our food was not bad, there was nothing exceptional that makes us want to come back immediately like the original restaurant did. Things that are different: the amazing pepper gravy is now an average white gravy that anyone could make. The biscuit sandwiches have shredded cheese on them instead of a slice of cheese. The shredded cheese has never been fully melted and it's not enough to actually taste the cheese. They previously had a Schwabb's sausage that was made just for them. It was different and amazing. Now they have a different sausage that's nothing special. They tout it as special because it's "homemade" which is great I guess, but if it doesn't taste different or special, then you're not providing anything above any of the other brunch places in the city. My husband used to love the breakfast tacos. We cook extensively at home and he said the tacos are much more simplified compared to the original and could be something anyone could whip up at home. When we go out, we want to eat something we don't get at home. The pancakes and scrambled eggs were also just okay. The grandparents enjoyed their French toast. Will we be back? Maybe...but we sadly don't have plans to return...
Read moreWhat a beautiful surprise! Oklahoma has been a wonderful series of not so hidden gems and lovely folks everywhere we go, and this cafe is no exception.
We got to sit near the front with beautiful window lighting, and a comfortable bench seating on one half. My friend ordered the French toast which comes with berries and honey cinnamon butter, and a delectable syrup. She said the French toast was so good by itself she almost didn’t try the butter but gave it a chance and it was like an explosion of flavors. Adding the syrup created a depth that is rarely seen especially at the price point here.
The berries are incredibly fresh, I’ve not seen strawberries so red to the center in ages, and the blackberries were hardly tart at all! I chose the pumped up grilled cheese which they aren’t kidding, it is indeed Thick. The sourdough is lovely and not too crispy, the cheese with the pesto is this well blended combination and the bacon found a perfect level of crispy without ruining the texture.
Little side note: they serve Maine root soda, Specifically including blueberry flavor which only one other restaurant in my Texas neighborhood seems to have, which was just another bonus point to this fantastic start of...
