We arrived and waited at the front near the host stand when a customer came to ask about the waiting time. The staff let them know that they were fully booked. Then, another staff member came over and engaged in an argument in another language with the first staff member. Afterward, this staff member told the customer that the wait would actually be about 1 to 1.5 hours. They continued to speak/argue in that language, which was frustrating for those of us waiting, as the waiting area was quite small.
Eventually, we were seated and started looking at the menu. The server explained that the raw foods, including sushi and sashimi, were supposed to come out first, as that was the chef's preference. We nodded in agreement, thinking it was fine. All three of us ordered raw dishes along with some entrees.
After a while, and considering it was a busy weekend, two out of my three dishes arrived first; however, they were both from the entrees, not the raw dishes as explained earlier. More than 10 minutes later, my friends finally got their food. I couldn’t help but think, "Isn’t this fine dining supposed to ensure that everyone’s meals are brought out at the same time?" It felt a bit off.
The food was bland and lacked flavor, especially the chicken wings. Luckily, there was a soy sauce bottle on the table, which I had to soak it it for 5 minutes to make the wings edible. Most of the portions were small and expensive, but we understood that it was fine dining. However, the overall quality was disappointing. We hoped that the sashimi and sushi would be better. When they finally arrived, all of our orders were piled onto one plate, making it difficult to figure out who ordered what.
Additionally, the server forgot what my friend had ordered. After being reminded, the other chicken wings finally arrived, but by that point, we wished they hadn't, as they had no flavor.
Next to us, a table finished their meal and one of the girls exclaimed, "Let’s go eat!"—exactly what we felt!
When we settled our bill, the manager approached to ask how everything was. We expressed our dissatisfaction, and she offered us desserts as an apology, which was a nice gesture, although it felt a bit late at that point.
After finishing, we left still feeling hungry and decided to head next door to Empire for pizza. The atmosphere there was completely different; we talked and enjoyed ourselves, while at Takaramono, we barely interacted due to the...

I had the absolute pleasure of dining at Takaramono OKC last night, and I can confidently say it was one of the most impressive and memorable restaurant experiences I’ve had in Oklahoma City—or anywhere, really.
From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was refined yet inviting, blending modern Japanese elegance with warm hospitality. What truly set the night apart was the generosity and passion of the owner, who personally brought out an incredible array of dishes and drinks for us to try. Every single item was a masterpiece.
We were treated to stunningly plated dishes—like the beautifully seared duck breast ramen, delicate desserts served with a dramatic flourish of dry ice, and a curated selection of Japanese beer and sake. Each course was as visually striking as it was flavorful. The attention to detail in presentation and taste was exceptional, elevating the experience far beyond a typical night out.
Takaramono isn’t just a meal—it’s a journey through Japanese culinary artistry, and you can feel the heart behind it in every bite. The chef’s creativity and the staff’s hospitality made the entire evening feel special, personal, and unforgettable.
Whether you’re celebrating something big or just want to treat yourself to something extraordinary, Takaramono deserves to be at the top of your list....
Read moreLike most people who come to make a review, I am either terribly let down or extremely happy with my experience. In this case of Takaramono, I had the absolute best dining experience I have had in a long time. I started with the spicy salmon carpaccio which was fresh, beautifully plated, and extremely tasty. Next I got the Japanese Uni sushi and Toro (fatty tuna). The Toro was yummy! The real star of the pair though was the Japanese Uni. Our server explained how most Uni around the state is imported from California, however, they import theirs straight from Japan. It tasted delicate, savory, and also very fresh. For my main I got a beef fried rice, and it was tasty, and also another eccentric plating. Lastly the general manager treated my party and I to a birthday dessert, the raspberry Earl gray mousse cake! They even sang happy birthday. The hospitality here was unlike any other in OKC, and clearly shows when the general manager is actively supporting and serving with his staff. If you know anything about the plaza you know that parking is a pain in the butt, however it is worth the parking adventure. I don’t normally make reviews, but if you are looking for an amazing, top tier, hospitable sushi spot here in Oklahoma City definitely have to check...
