Unique menu and flavor plus an abundance of cheese!!!
Let me say this upfront: $4.99 for a pint and a half of draft Mexican beer! The Mangoritta had Chamoy and Tajin in it and was delicious. Also that boat size drink was only $9.99!! Don’t miss out on these deals.
Menus sides include not only refried beans but Barracho beans, Mexican corn, and ranchero beans amongst others that you can choose from. Truly surprised at the choices.
Let’s hit the high points. Food was served hot and was delicious. The seasoning used in the refried beans and the shrimp enchiladas is very distinct. It definitely has a Mexican profile but is different than any of the other restaurants I’ve ever eaten at. It’s a good experience not a bad one.
We had the shrimp enchiladas, taco plate and lunch size portion of beef fajitas and I can say everything arrived quickly. Considering the place was jammed packed it was great to get prompt service.
Now the down side…
FIX YOUR AIR-CONDITIONING!!! Eating there was like eating in a sauna. It was definitely hotter inside than outside. I’m assuming this is an anomaly and not the way the restaurant keeps its temperature. At least I hope so because it’s like eating in a restaurant in Juarez Mexico; hot, very hot.
The only food things I can speak badly of is the tortillas and queso cheese served with the tortilla chips before dinner. The queso is thin with little flavor and runs more off your chip than stays on. The tortillas used are store bought and not made onsite because they are way think and chewy. Maybe you like that kind of thing and I’m not judging you if you do.
I’ll be returning again, probably in the fall when it’s cooler but you don’t...
Read moreWe have been loyal customers of Casa Perico for 28 years. My dad worked with the previous owner, Mike, for many years, and since his passing, our family has continued eating at Casa Perico almost every week because it reminds us of him.
Two weeks ago Friday evening, we placed an order that was incorrect. This was not the first time it happened. When we called, the manager apologized and offered us a credit for free enchiladas on our next visit, since we live too far for them to replace the order.
Today when I called to place our order and mentioned the credit, the hostess told me there were no notes on file. The matter was escalated to the current manager, who refused to honor what was promised. I explained that I was not asking for free food, only the credit that had been offered. Instead of listening, he was dismissive and rude!!
This is not the service I have known Casa Perico to provide all these years. It was never about the money. It was about keeping a promise, treating a long-time customer with respect, and maintaining the standard of service that made us loyal for nearly three decades. Sadly, this experience left us very...
Read moreIt's acceptably generic.
Complaints first: dominant chicken bouillon flavor in the queso, shredded chicken and some sauces. The salsa was thin and the shredded beef and chicken were wet. Ground beef was under-seasoned. The prices of their lunch specials struck me as standard. Hefty $6 charge for anyone splitting a plate. The smell of the restaurant (which is just fine there) clung to our clothes and hair.
Positives: the shredded beef and chicken were not dry, which is no small feat. The salsa, though thin, had good flavors. Unsung hero: tamale sauce which was tastefully spiced with cinnamon and chiles--just a touch of heat. Papas rancheras were well seasoned, hand cut pieces of fried potato. Solid refired beans and rice. It's also newly renovated. I think the Penn location is terrible, though this...
