Let me start by saying when I first walked in the first thing I noticed was the music it was too loud but i tried to give it a chance I couldn't have a conversation with the people in our party with out almost yelling so we just read each other's lips. I get it they want to provide a up beat atmosphere the music was nice just should be turned down a little bit I felt like I was at the club not at dinner. It's really not alot of space in there and there are too many tables. We sat down a table and looked at the menu then proceeded to place our order the young lady said that she would bring our drinks to the table my niece ordered the jerk chicken fries with the jerk sauce on the side those came to the table in about 5 minutes with the sauce not on the side so we had to send them back we waited about 15 minutes still no drinks or food so I went to ask for our drinks and the young lady said that she forgot no biggie so I said it's okay I can get them and go back to the table then she say we don't have ice do you want your drinks with out ice I said I would prefer to have ice because we were getting hot that's why we wanted our drinks she asked if I could wait for someone to bring ice from the back I patiently said yes I can wait no problem so I waited about 5 minutes or so then a young man came from the back with ice the young lady made our drinks and helped carry two of the drinks to the table at that time it's about 25 to 30 minutes after we placed our order and my two kids meals comes out they ordered the sandwich with mac n cheese the portions were a nice size for a kids meal but their food was cold and the meat was dry no biggie they're kids they dont know the difference and I figured they let the kids meals cool off a bit before serving them another 10 to 15 minutes goes by and here comes the new order of jerk chicken fries with the sauce on the side so they're eating and I wait about 10 minutes and my food comes out at first glance it looks good but when I start tasting the food it was disgusting everything on my plate was nasty my ribs were chewy like they were re heated my corn bread tasted like left over corn bread and it tasted like the refrigerator for lack of better words it was hard and dry then I try the plantains they were so hard with sugar sprinkled on the top I couldn't even eat then they were gross the mac and cheese i got up charged for was supposed to be a specialty item and it taste like store bought macaroni salad with cheese poured on it. The longer I sat there I realized I made a mistake by coming there I wasted my money on that food I am 1 and done I don't know if I caught them on a bad day because I've heard good things about them but I was not impressed first impression is everything and i was not impressed the best thing I tasted from there was the soda. I was throwing up the entire way home I had to stop 4 times I even threw up in their parking lot I'm very disappointed in the food and customer service here I will not be returning definitely not worth the money I spent I'll give this place a 2 out...
Read moreFirst let me say, the ONLY reason I gave a two on the service is because this guy whomever he is, maybe the owner because I've seen him in there before, was very RUDE but the guy at the register was super nice, very friendly.
Even reading the response of other reviews proves my point! Non professional, petty, and unintelligent! Not professional at all. I can say, the guy at the register was super nice, though. The food was good, I didn't like the rice, it seems like it was warmed up, not cooked fresh. I asked this guy with a MCM hat on, if he could get them to bring our drinks. This guy took his time, went on cleaning tables and the bar, he purposely staggered. I waited maybe 15 min then went up there to get my drinks. That's when this guy came up there. I asked him did he come tell the cashier about my drinks. He responded very condescendingly stating, "don't you see he's busy?" I responded by asking in the same tone as him, "so can you get my drinks?" He responded by telling me "I need to be patient". My thing is, I asked you for my drinks, you knew he was busy, so why didn't you just go get my drinks? I'm not arguing with this low life cause I had to get my food and trust I put an extra prayer on my food before we ate because he look like he has a very nasty demeanor!
This is my third time eating from there and that's all I need. Everytime I've went in there this guy is always rude! The service becuase of him does not deserve my money or deserve for me to pay those high prices for a fake Jamaican spot! I mean they aren't even Jamaican. #fake The food good but it surely isn't Jamaican cuisine. The only reason I went back is because my son wanted to try it.
I suggest, if you're reading this, go to D&B Daiquiri spot. They are super nice, very customer service oriented. The food is very good and they aren't trying to be Jamaican. When you walk in there the energy is much better. This Cornish non jerk spot, the workers don't even look happy. It definitely has a negative ora!
I said what i said. So when you as the owner or whomever responds to people reviews, read this, your response will not mean anything so go ahead and take your best shot. Your just being very petty and why would anyone want to patronage a business like that. You're only digging you're own grave!
By the way, I would also suggest to this guy, stay out of the kitchen on your phone and no gloves. You never know the occupation of your customers you're being rude to. I watched you in the kitchen on your phone AND to add no gloves when I was at the register ordering my food. Just a word of advice anyone in the kitchen without the necessary attire and using electronic devices is a clear violation in food and sanitation regulations in...
Read moreI walked in at 1:02p, I ordered my food at 1:28p, there was a family in front of me that took a long time to order. Nonetheless, I sat down at 1:30p. It was 1:58p when I asked how long my food was going to be? Everyone else was eating. The guy said there were a few tickets before mine so it'll be shortly. However everyone that was there before me received their food already even a guy that came in after me! I got my food at 2:03p. It's a bit pricey, I mean a drink is $3.40, I paid $37 including a $5 tip which I am not keen on paying a tip upfront! On to the food...
I ordered the two meat plate, the chopped brisket and ribs with collard greens, mac and cheese with cornbread. I'm sure this is not a Jamaican/Caribbean/Island spot, but as “Jamrican” as possible for OKC. I had the bourbon jerk sauce and the regular jerk sauce. As a Floridian, it’s not the real jerk sauce but I guess, for the middle of America, it worked. The regular jerk was spicy, which I loved but the bourbon jerk sauce was tasty but too thick, definitely not authentic especially for the price of my total bill, the extra sauce was $.75. The ribs were very tender and tasty with or without the sauce. The brisket was good, good burnt tips but better with the sauce. The greens, mac, and the cornbread was good.
The ambiance is a good one. I love the somewhat of the Caribbean vibe. I love the piped ceiling, the exposure, great look for the spot! The art work was a good look as well. I love the music that was playing but at one point I felt like it was really loud, idk maybe it was me! All in all, it seems to be a good vibe, I would go again, I just know it may take a while to get my food, possibly.
They have people to bring your food if you're dining in but not an actual wait staff. No one came by to see how things were. I sat by the window, exit door, but for some reason there were gnats around. So, I had to cover my food with a napkin to go to the front to ask for a togo plate. I can’t eat my food while shooing off gnats. I think it may be because I sat by the window. The young lady passed by me twice to bring another customer their food yet never stopped to ask if everything was ok or if I needed anything. I mean, they were busy by the time I got my food but that’s still no reason to not show courtesy especially when you requesting a tip up front!
Lastly, if I could suggest, to sell the real natural juices, like carrot juice, ginger juice etc, that most Caribbean...
