Dear New Golden Chick Owner: I would like to give a shining recognition to a great employee named "Hailee" I believe thats how she spells her name. She really is an asset to your company and I would like to say "Thank you" for hiring her. She really helped me out today, I was dealing with an emergency with my son's apartment. My son's apartment roof collapsed on him and his fiance in the middle of the night and I needed to get them some food real quick. Hailee took my order correctly & proceeded to piece my order quickly & efficiently without delay. She got me on my way and the chicken was still hot and not greasy like it has been before she started there. I used to deal with the chicken being too greasy and it would upset my stomach but,not this time or anytime she's on duty when she takes care of me. My family and I have been coming to the 16th & Rockwell location since it opened its doors so I know how the chicken used to be and how it made a steady decline after the shift manager shuffle or the Arabic language barrier became an issue. When it first opened,the then manager was concerned about people,product,service, and that was his philosophy from what I understood. He called me the "Chicken Man" because we would come there at least twice a week because it was so close to home and I stopped going to KFC because their chicken was so much better and fresher. He built his clientele on return customers. Anyway in closing, I want to thank you for such a caring team leader you have in Hailee. Hometown feel dining and curb appeal. The 3 piece catfish, 3 piece shrimp meal, include 2 sides, roll, plus drink is priced steep for the size of the pieces. The catfish is 2/3 smaller than shown on pics but had good fishy catfish flavor.

The shrimp is just ok, smaller shrimp, mine was a bit dry on the outside and just slightly fried too hard. My cherry cola was terrible and tasted kind of old, the fries were ok and good, they were pretty fresh, the roll was very good and fresh. The salad was good and fresh and the perfect size, took me around 7 minutes to eat the salad. The 230 calorie 1.5 oz salad dressing packet is a huge helping of dressing for a tiny salad, I only used a 10th the packet, I had to add the dressing little by little because the salad is too packed to mix in the dressing.

I like the review that says he bought a family meal to eat on for a few days and the manager is a nice guy, the manager has been friendly in my experience as well.

There is a heavy set female employee with a very short hair cut, red or reddish color hair, late 30s or so when I came in the store standing in front of the registers, but not directly at them in front of them. I gave her a hello smile, she just looked at me and looked away without any acknowledgement as a 7 year old may. I thought oooook. I believe she may have been in training as the manager waited on me, however, this is NO excuse to be the first and only one someone sees when they enter the store and not acknowledge the customer, your age and honor tells you to at least say we'll be with you in just a moment. The quality of the food at the NW 16th and Rockwell location has definitely went downhill. My son and I used to eat there alot mainly getting the catfish dinner. It had been about 3 months since we had been there and decided to get our usual the catfish. I even got a piece of fried chicken on the side. Needless to say it was horrible. We had to wait forever and then the catfish was like rubber. The piece of chicken was so greasy I couldn't eat it. Also the coating was so hard I could hardly chew it. The catfish was also cold. I figured it must have been a one time thing so i tried their chicken sandwich combo today for lunch to give them another chance. It looked so good on tv. But again it was horrible. The chicken was like rubber and the coating was hard as a rock. The cheese was like glue on the bread like it had been microwaved too long. The sauce had a weird tang to it. The roll was actually good but that was it. The fries which I used to love were really hard on the ends. I really wasted 7.59 at a time when I don't have it laying around to waste. It was actually suppose to be a treat for me to get takeout for lunch. But needless to say I have learned my lesson. I will not be eating at Golden Chick again.
